Intrusive video ads without my clicking it?

Love Facebook, hate the App

The most recent update FORCES me to watch intrusive videos (with unmuted audio) whether I like it or not. Even the "x" in the corner doesn't shut down the ad, it only forces you to go to another website. Only unreputable companies will force you to look at their ads (think pop-ups. Growlr should question this practice.) I find myself using Growlr less and less because force-closing and reopening the app to avoid listening to the advertisement is getting more and more annoying. Bad move Growlr :( What the he// were you thinking?!

It used to be better

I don't like the app, but I don't hate it. Back in the "old days" of the app, there were no ads. Then there were banner ads. Those were okay, and they were non-intrusive enough. But now there are video ads and you can't get rid of them unless you subscribe. Back in the "old days" if a guy unlocked his private pics, you could see all his private pics. But now, you can't see them all unless you pay the subscription fee. I just can't subscribe to this app because I've not yet had a good, quality connection with anyone. Every other profile I read contains a list of rules you need to follow to just say hello to someone or to tell them they are attractive. People look at your profile but never say hello. If you're in an open or poly relationship, you're either ignored or met with open hostility by angry single people. The app loses messages all the time, meaning you have to re-type everything you just typed. You also can't edit your message as easily as you can in other apps because the text entry window doesn't expand large enough for that purpose. If you want to clean up your grid and get rid of people who have no profile picture, you can't do that effectively (another subscription feature?). Finally, you can't filter members based on facial hair on a bear app. Look, I really want to like this app; but it's just not fun to use anymore like it used to be. Part of the solution to this is scaling back the ads. Another part of the solution is clamping down on the people who are making the environment more hostile than it absolutely has to be. Will these things ever happen? Let's hope.

Stability issues

Compared to Scruff, this app is inferior. Frequent error "Growler service unavailable" and when it happens it erases your message and you have to start over. Not as user friendly as scruff, and rather clunky operation.

Great guys, bad app

Orlandodavid80

The ads are unbearable. They're super loud and long(10sec). I just end up closing the app after 5 seconds of advertising and check one of the other apps.

Not desperate enough

Ted.b

Worst. I thought Grindr was bad-repeated ads. Ads ads ads. Messages from fake dudes to advertise parties. Did I mention ads? Ugly interface. Blerg

So far so good

The ads do get annoying but since I'm not paying for this app, I'm willing to deal. Pretty good so far. Met a few guys here. My problem is not enough guys in my rural area!

Could be better
