* FAQ

- How do I put files into GPlayer?
To add files to your GPlayer app, you have to go to iTunes, and select the “Apps” tab. At the bottom of this page, there’s a “File sharing” section – just select GPlayer in the list, and add files from there. Note that you don’t have to sync your iPhone or iPad to iTunes to add movies. Just drop files in the “File sharing” tab, and they’ll be uploaded immediately. You can even use a friend’s iTunes to add videos to your own iPhone. Also, adding files over WiFi is supported. Indeed, WiFi is significantly slower than USB, and ruins the battery life.

- What kind of streams does GPlayer play?
GPlayer is able to play RTSP and MMS streams. For now those can’t be added to the media library, but you can click an RTSP or MMS url in Safari or Mail for example.
If you want to use GPlayer to open HTTP/FTP streaming, add "gplayer:" prefix in the URL.

- I want to explicitely open an attachment with GPlayer?
If you want to watch an attachment in GPlayer(from Mail for example), just do a long press on the attachment. A menu will pop-up that will let you pick GPlayer as a player.

- iTunes won’t let me install GPlayer on my iPhone or iPod Touch?
Unfortunately, we had to drop support for older iOS devices such as the iPhone 3G or the first two versions of iPods. Indeed, after some testing, we realized those weren’t fast enough to provide a pleasant experience.

- Why HD MKV movies don’t play smoothly?
Currently, only iPad 2 supports 720p MKV file, that’s to be expected. The other iDevices have limited computing power, and cannot handle the complex task of decoding HD movies in real time.

- The audio and the video is not in sync?
That is because the CPU is not power enough to do video decoding, you can try to enable "Skip Frame" in the settings page.

- Is there a TV-out support?
Yep, supports iPod gen4, iPhone4, iPhone4S and iPad 1/2.

No audio for AC3 encodes
Henbot3000

There's no audio for AC3 encodes which guess what? A LOT of rips are AC3 so it's limited... Severely. Plus, do they even support this app anymore? I doubt it.

It works. I love it

New IPad Pro Support
zaayeb

Hi Guys, This is really an amazing app and I have been using this for several years now. I bought a new iPad Pro but however this app is not supported for that. Hoping you will push the update for this very soon. So I can continue to enjoy this app and support the app.

Good Basic Video Player.
ESCaisey

I use this often to watch videos, no complaints, but I do have a few suggestions that would be very helpful. 1. Can you integrate a way to loop a section of a video, and adjust the playback speed. I mainly use this for instructional videos it would be great to have the ability to loop a section and slow it down to assist with learning. 2. It would be neat to integrate a video playlist feature where a selection of videos could be played one after the other. Add those 2 features and it would make the app that much powerful Thanks

Bad bug
Sneefle

iOS 12 iPhone 8 Plus - had downloaded many videos by using "open in" and choosing GPlayer. That adds them to the folder "inbox" on the iPhone. Today I tapped the button "use iTunes backup" or maybe it's called just "iTunes Backup" on the app, on my iphone, and it instantly deleted the entire inbox. iPhone storage info shows GPlayer using only app space (around 45MB) and no documents/data. Very upset. Used GPlayer for years, since I think iPhone 3G.

Replay doesn't work

I have an iPhone 4s. Every time I finish a video, gplayer goes back to the list instead of playing the next video. Can you please fix this?

Best App ever!!!!!!!
PepeLacot

The only improvement I would like to see is the ability to cast to the chromecast from my iphone. Other than that the best video player.

Plays everything from my computer
Manylander

Saves me from Apple's long standing nonsense of "format favoring". Anything major format plays flawlessly. Free, easy to use. How can I not rate 5 stars? Thank you guys!
