Drag objects into space with your finger and watch them orbit around each other to make cool designs.

With the touch of a finger, drag planets, moons and asteroides into space. Watch as gravity causes the planets to accelerate toward each other. Relax as you watch your planets interact on their own or influence them by dragging the planets to new locations with your finger. With a little cleverness, position your planets so they orbit around each other.

Once you have your planets gliding around each other, tun on the 'Trails' feature to trace out your planet's paths resulting in beautiful patterns and images.

Use the artistic tools to control how your planets move about the screen to create interesting patterns and designs.

Make the planets bounce off each other like billiard balls or make them pass through each other like a ghost.

Lock on to a planet to view the planetary motion from the point of view of that planet or let your planets drift unabated viewing them as an independent observer in space.

Gillian's Planets is a toy for the iPad. There is no score or winning or losing so it's not a true game. There is no specific problem to solve so it's not a puzzle. You just play with it, have fun and create amazing patterns aided only by Newton's natural law of gravity.

Planet pool

I love anything to do with the cosmos so just to pass the time from time to time I play "plant pool"(as i call it) with the app. I find it rather relaxing....I would love to play"planet pool " in 3D;) David S

Fascinating app

I downloaded this last night and spent about an hour experimenting with it. Found that random assortments of planets around a star are usually unstable - the smaller planets often are ejected out of the system or go into very eccentric orbits, like comets. Gives me an appreciation for how lucky we are to be in a stable solar system - and how the alignment of orbits may have been very different in the past - as is currently theorized. It appears very difficult to arrange a stable system with more than 3 bodies. There are enough color and sound schemes available to provide variety. Thanks to "Gillian" for making this app available!

Needless to say, I like it!

I downloaded this app yesterday and have been very impressed. It is really cool all the designs that can be made. Or you can use it as a high-quality orbital simulator by turning the trails on or off. Great work by the creators.
