Good stuff, and could be better

artfoundry

I've been waiting for a really good (ie. realistic) combat sim for a while. There have been so many sims out there, but the combat ones are all too arcade like and Laminar's, while great on the realism factor, don't contain any combat. So finally they've made a good combat sim. It's unfortunate it's not a flight sim, but I love mech sims too, so I'm still happy with it. They've done a great job with the realism of the simulation of the mechs. Customization, audio, and general feel of the mechs in motion are all great. So far just one gameplay feature I'd like to see - the ability to fire multiple weapon types at the same time. I used to love being able to do that in Mechwarrior - line up the enemy, and just unload in one giant barrage, causing huge damage (assuming I hit). Actually one other thing that would be cool is haivng a voiceover indicating the status/damage of the mech (heh, always liked that female system voice from Mechwarrior). But that would just be earcandy - not as important to me as firing multiple weapon types. The area where the game is lacking is the environments and the missions. Environments are pretty much barren - just terrain. No buildings (that I've seen anyway), etc. Missions are pretty simplistic - not much originality (just kill the enemy) or story. Also, other than multiplayer, there's no other gameplay type - it's either campaign or multiplayer. Some kind of pick-up battle would be nice that involves taking out a handful of mechs. Or even an endless assault to see how long you can last, or perhaps a base attack battle in which you have to attack the enemy base or defend your own. Lots of options are possible. Finally, some music would be a great addition as well. But at least you can play your own music. PS. I just used the flamethrower weapon, and LOL. It's a powerful weapon, but it looks really cheesy - just a stream of sprite based fireballs being thrown out. Actually, to be honest, the game's graphics in general are a bit cheesy - the mechs and effects. Not the stuff we're used to in Mechwarrior, Mech Assault, etc (or even X-plane for that matter). But the game is still great simply because of the realism. If a few of the points I made are fixed in future updates, I'd gladly update my rating to 5 stars.

Great game

Eagle262

Needs a 4 legged super enemy or a boss. Option to choose robot to fight in. New weapons like mines and shotguns are also needed. Air enemys would be awesome.

Amazing!

The Dong God

The graphics, the sound, and best of all, the gameplay, it's all amazing! It's well worth the five bucks! And for those of you who say it's too hard: press the new champaign and ajust the diffaculty slider to 0% of normal!

Save option

Danbot12345

Fixing this is #1 priority.

Oh No! There Goes Tokyo!!!

uber toon

Very impressive indeed. I love the sim feel with static transmission. Reminds me of the Godzilla movies of old with it's vibe. Would like to see a start menu each time you fire up the game. Once you start a campaign it loads from the briefing point. I want the option to see the cool "Live Battle Feed" each time you open the app. Makes the best screensaver ever! I can get it to start if I hard boot my phone, but would like the app to start there. Minor gripe to an otherwise great piece of software.

Giant dissapointment!!!!

Prestonw55

The calibrations are way off to aim even when tweaked. The robots have minimal textures but the environment has none!!!! The attachments are so lame. My 7 year old could program this app in Objective C and do a better job than you... Where are the updates????!!!??????

Best

Crasho3218

Best game ever

Awesome app laminar

Dengar8

This app is just awesome! Even after you complete the campaign you can still mess around. Try flying up really high and see if you cam survive with sheilds so much fun. Only thing you need to add is the ability to chose your mech/robot and add crosshairs on the other views, it is very hard to aim in the other views and. I feel restricted to 1 view because of no crosshairs on the other views. Besides those things this app is AWESOME!!!!!

Awesome!

DTMF223

How do you guys create such awesome apps? This is amazing! Please add more weapons and ATAWs and levels. The campaign is too short.

Time for an update!

It's really fun and worth the money, but it's over quickly and then you just play again and again at different difficulty settings. An update is needed. After beating the game it'd be great if there were a freeplay option where you can choose which bots you're using, which ones you're fighting, and the locations, etc, similar to X-Plane menu.
