GeoTagr

Digital photo collections can grow rapidly. Remembering where you took all those photos can become a chore. Most cameras don't tag your photos automatically, so you'll need something to help you out.

Perfect for tagging!
Simonkm

A great app that does exactly what it promises, and does it well. I’ve been using GeoTagr for years now, after hunting high and low for an app that could add my location to photos shot on my DSLR - which still frustratingly often come without GPS tagging built in. (Or in my case comes with a camera manufacturer’s app which never seems to keep its connection to the camera so is pretty useless). When I’m out and about, I keep the app running in the background and then use the app to tag my photos once I get home. It really is that simple, and means I can see exactly where I took the photo on the map view within Photos, while memories etc. are properly collated too. Recording your GPS location constantly means your battery can take a hit, but the app includes a battery time remaining feature, and I just carry a battery pack with me. Chris the developer is really great at replying to support queries too. If you’re looking for an app that records your location then tags your photos reliably and without hassle, you’ve found it!

Low Precision, 0m Coordinate Accuracy

The app tagged my photos as having a zero meter accuracy when in fact they plotted about 200 meters off of the trail I was hiking. Zero in this case presumably means unknown, but give the impression of higher accuracy than the points were.

10 At A Time?!

I really like the app, except that recent versions only allow me to tag 10-20 photos at a time, which is ridiculous! In addition, it only deletes about half the updated photos, which makes an entire day’s excursion a huge pain to tag. Almost easier to do it manually by memory.

Great app!

This is a great app, and it saved me over $200 to buy a GPS unit for my DSLR. It was slightly tricky the first time I used it because the Map module on LIghtroom 4 is new and I've never used it before. But once I figured it out, it is easy! I'd recommend this to everyone who travels with a camera without a GPS unit. Geotagr is able to pinpoint the location of my photos down to the most minute scale. This is most useful because I was on a botanical survey hike and was able to show on the map in Lightroom where I took pictures of a specific specimen of the vegetation of the area.

Simply excellent!

The best & simplest to use geotagging app! Don't waste hundreds of dollars for dedicated GPS logging equipment, when this app costs $5 and uses a GPS unit you always have handy (I.e. your iPhone). Works like a charm on Aperture!

Worthless.

I'm using an iPad WiFi. I can't tag a singe photo. What a waste of 4.99.

Excellent and Useful

Does what it says and well. Recommend an auxiliary power source if your going to be shooting all day with GPS on though.

Good app, good support

Useful app, works well. Good support. I couldn't find how to manually enter a location manually, so I emailed the developer on a Saturday and he replied on Sunday explaining how to do it. Not many developers would reply to support email over a weekend.

My Favorite Geotagging App!

I'm not one to write reviews, but I really like this app. It's really easy to use, but what I like best is how you can use the track to geotag the photos. The app provides many different ways for you to accomplish this task, so you just need to pick the one that works best for your workflow. There are two that I use: I'll use the iPhone to record my hike (I like to photograph during my hikes), but I'll actually shoot with a digital camera, not the iPhone. If I'm just shooting JPGs, I'll upload them into iPhoto when I get home so that they go to my photo stream. Then I just open up this app on my iPad and it loads my photo stream and automatically geotags the photos I just took. Couldn't be easier. The other way I use it is when I'm shooting raw (which is most of the time). You start out the same way, but when you're all done, you instruct GeoTagr to email you the GPX file. Once you have that, you can import the photos and the GPX file into Aperture (or Lightroom) and sync the GPX data into the raw metadata and voila, you're photos are geotagged. Lastly, the support is great. I've only had one issue (and it was my fault), but the developer replied within minutes (on a Sunday no less). I'd buy this app again in a heartbeat.
