Just bought this game and it has an annoying bug that screws up the touch controls if I lock my screen while the game is running. I haven't even played for a full 10 min. Complete waste of $10, probably the last time I ever purchase anything on the App Store. Unbelievable. Stick to the free stuff people. At least if it turns out to be garbage you don't lose any money. Also this game is an editors choice, absolute joke. Fix this.

This isn't the first platform I've played this game on, and it definitely holds its own against other versions. The controls work well and are very similar to the console additions. I love the variation of game modes and the option to play classic. Great investment.
Controls need work and freezes

Great game thus far but when using the floating controls if you barely touch outside of the joystick area it activates your super and your bomb (or maybe the bomb just randomly goes off?)....the purpose of the floating joy stick is so you don't need to place your fingers exactly in the joystick area. Please fix this every level my super and bomb go off immediately and then they are gone for he level, super lame. The game seems really great though! Also almost every time I do something else on my phone and come back to the game, it is completely frozen and I need to hard close the app and reopen it.

Had been waiting to buy this until it went down in price a bit, just picked it up last night when I saw it for a buck ninety nine. Dayyyyum, worth every penny and then some, would gladly pay the difference after playing it all night! Not only is it light years ahead of the past installments in the series in the areas of gameplay, concept, challenge, control and graphics, but it also includes a full Classic mode as well!! That was the rub for me, wasn't expecting that at all, and a nice welcome bonus, especially considering the slashed price at the moment. One of my favorite game series, mobile AND console!

...I NEVER spend more than .99¢ on apps. Why? Because they always, ALWAYS drop in price; so why did I spend $5 on this app....because I just couldn't wait and GW it FREAKIN' AWESOME!! Geometry Wars since day one has always had a simplistic yet super captivating force about it: The colors are gorgeous, the graphics are simple but stellar, the music is spot on and the smooth frame rate is nothing to complain about. This one for iOS is no different. Now of course you just can't get the accuracy on a touch screen as you can with a controller but the devs made them as great as it could be for touch screen. If you like dual stick shooters then you won't be disappointed. The developers did a great job on this so I definitely don't mind forkin' over 5 bucks to have this game in my back pocket. Do any of you remember the first GW on iOS? For those of you who don't, this game is an immense improvement over the other one; totally worth your money. Check it out! One last thing, if you like games like this, check out all the games by developer Radiangames. "Ballistic SE" is probably closet to Geo Wars and it's a gorgeous game too in its own way. Don't sleep on "Ballistic SE". Updated as of Dec 2, 2016 Just redownloaded this game to play again and it's still awesome. One problem that it looks like others are having too is that my super activates automatically within 2 seconds of starting any level. This is a major problem. And this isn't like every now and then, it happens every time. PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!!

I love this iteration of geometry wars and have played obsessively since downloading. The level progression escalates well, the specials and drones are a fun way to customize your approach, and of course the graphics are top notch. What's really exceptional are the controls. The thumb sticks are so well tuned maneuvering is way intuitive and precise. The problem!!!! Bombs and specials keep going off on their own. The best I can guess is that the bombs go off when you are on a location of a spawning enemy. Even that doesn't seem consistent. If that is the intention I still think it's flawed. I need absolute control of those for them to be beneficial. As it stands the surprise detonation is more of a detriment and challenge to work around than a perk. This is so flawed in fact I have abruptly stopped playing the game and have lost faith in the franchise. It's a fatal flaw for me. Please fix! It's not too late.

None of the controls are even mildly functional, there is absolutely no consistency in game environments or difficulty, upgrades are automatic and not permanent, and there are multiple buttons that do basically the same thing (without labels, even). Do not waste your money or time on this game!
