Great, but not up to date

First off, there is a lot to like about this app, it’s clean, fast, and compares favorably to the number of alternative country/flag programs out there - many which charge monthly fees. Graphically it’s not nearly as slick, but the functionally gives the others a run for their money. It almost always picks the country I want it to. The way it teaches is well done too. It gives you four countries per round, next round four more, and so on. If you make a mistake you are “penalized” by removing the correct countries off the map and you have to earn your way back. It gives you the repetition you need to retain the information. That said, it should be pointed out that not all the countries are up to date. Sigh. Some countries have old names, (Ivory Coast for example) a number are missing altogether, (Monaco, Kosovo, Gambia, North Cyprus, etc) an occasional flag is an older version. There is also no training for the many island countries in the world. As of writing this, there have been no updates for ten months, so the price of the full version($6) is rather steep for a program having those issues. Also there seems to be set orders that the counties come up, so the more you play, you can fall into predictable patterns of dragging countries in set orders, this is less than ideal for actual learning. In the end there are many positives, but a number of negatives as well. I think it’s one of the better tools for learning that I’ve found - and of the 3 apps I purchased it is still my app of choice because its reaction time is so fast. Just know there will be some holes and relearning to do to get all your countries learned.
