After getting iPhone X this app does not connect to my watch , therefore I can’t use Any features. Almost as if they want you to buy a different watch? ?

I have the iPhone 6S Plus and it will not connect. The phone sees the watch but fails to connect. I did the latest update to the app and did an app uninstall and reinstall. Nothing seems to work!
