This app apparently can only be used by GTE customers with some kind of mortgage or other loan. All the major banks have apps where normal account holders can access their balances but that's apparently not in the cards for GTE.

Let's see... I have an account...but cannot use the app without having a mortgage... What??? Every bank in the US has an app to check balances... What gives????
You have to have either a loan or mortgage

I was lucky enough to become a member of GTE through work in 1998. I have moved 2500 miles away without needing a local bank. GTE Financial has every tool I need to do my banking online. If you haven't experienced GTE Financial before, you are missing out on an amazing financial institutions institution! Satisfied in Seattle

Similar to previous reviewer, I have been a GTEFCU customer since 2005, and also found them through work. The closest branch that I am aware of is 150 miles from here (they closed all north Florida branches years ago), and I haven't had a need to go there once. My wife has a "big red bank" and GTE's online banking and tech in general absolutely makes her jealous. GTE was one of the first credit unions I know of to incorporate Apple Pay. They are a best kept secret, and I am fortunate to have grown financially with them. Thanks GTE!
