The app takes after the fantastic WordSwag in its interface, adding a few twists that are nice. Unlike WordSwag where you pay $3 once to unlock the extra layouts (a total of nearly 250 of them), the developer of FontKit requires you pay an enormous $30 a year fee to unlock over half of his sets. What happens when your subscription wears out? What's the value? It's plain oversight and greed. The layouts are okay - not great, but okay. The ones I had interest in (why I bought the app) are all locked. So are certain features advertised on the screenshots. Want to put perspective to your text or erase part of the art to hide it behind a lamppost? You have to pay the subscription fees. The app constantly gives network errors even on a stable wifi and several of the buttons are unresponsive, requiring that the user has pixel-point precision on where she taps. In short, it's clunky, frustrating to use, demands a disproportionate recurring fee for the value, and tries to justify that fee by locking out 37 of the 73 sets from people who purchased the app. Do yourself a favor and skip over this app - it's full of unpleasant surprises.
