Big evolution from paper, looking forward to next versions

ASK47

As someone who is familiar with the flow of history method, I am delighted to see it available through another distribution channel. Both the content - a dynamic way of seeing historical events through various linkages, and the delivery method - this is a long way from xerox copies, are a superb way of experiencing history. I am looking forward to revising my rating to a higher number if (when) the application takes further advantage of the medium through additional interactivity and further content details that made learning through the flow of history so enjoyable.

Highly informative and educational

Being a retired math professor, I felt that I have been missing something- namely an appreciation of world history. How did we get to this point? Why do we forget what happened in the past? Do we need to keep making the same mistakes over and over? This app helps me get a feeling for where we have been. It is really fun to use. I expect to spend hours in my retirement exploring the ideas in this app. I feel that I am getting a whole new education on my iPad. I am using Star Chart for learning more about astronomy, Google Earth for studying geography, and Scientific Graphing Calculator to do my math. Coupled with Garage Band for recording music and Flow of History for the study of world history, I feel really privileged to be living in this technological age. Thanks for this enlightening app.

It's really improved my school!

App_Mom

I'm home school so this app is absolutely amazing for the stuff my book doesn't cover! Thank you for the update hopefully I will be able to make things bigger now! Here are some small "improvements" for the app!:) - more pictures - search button - easier ways to find topic - no side bar ( I'm constantly hitting a different topics sending me flying millions years forward never to see my topic again) :( Overall I really like this app I feel Ike I have a miniature time machine in my hands letting me go any where I want Thank you App moms little minon

Great History Resource

This is a very fluid, smooth and pleasurable to explore history. Perfect "companion app" for the Met's Ancient Civilizations exhibits. Really like the timeline and flow views side-by-side. And the quick hyperlinking encourages exploration. Bravo. One flaw prompting a star subtraction is the horrible approach to the body text readability. White text on black is ugly and difficult to read. One column in landscape mode is way too wide for good readability. Page orientation with wasted empty space and page numbers makes no sense on the iPad. Recommend black text on white background, 2-3 columns, and simple vertical "page flips" to go to next page. Since diagram text is already quite small, could also reduce body text size to offer much less scrolling, probably zero or just one page flip. With these improvements, 5th star awaits.

Very Disappointing

I was intrigued by the concept of this app; however, its is one of those "I want my money back" apps. It's massively incomplete and the user interface is worthless. This app gives me the impression that someone started with a great idea, got 10% of the way through its development and execution, and then walked away from it. Even if this app was free it would be a waste of time and storage. It's hard to believe that Apple allows this sort of junk get into its store.

A little confusing

I really like this app. I like the idea of learning history on a time line vs based on geography. Learning on a timeline allows you to compare what else is going on in the world at the same time. I have incorporated Flow of History in homeschool lessons. The only drawback is it is a little confusing at first. Takes me awhile to remember how to navigate. There is so much information. I can spend an hour reading and it feels like 5 minutes.

History like never before

Rich content and a great user interface. An incredible value, this is by far the best history app out there.

Fantastic.

This is just a perfect app for studying for any history test. There is just one thing which I think can be improved on, which is that the section in the bottom where there are all the units and all, if it could be slided away and then brought back when necessary, essentially allowing for a full screen view of the flowcharts.

Where is history of American Revolution?

Jamlee

This app provides fairly comprehensive coverage of most streams of history except, strangely, American history. A strange oversight given that world history from the eighteenth century on in incomprehensible without it.

Great tool

I teach history and this app is great for daily review along with the essays and readings to help increase not only my depth of understanding for that but also students. I highly recommend anybody who loves history and sometimes just need a refresher. I'm going to recommend it to my students.
