The Flame Boss app also works in conjunction with the web-based application available at MyFlameBoss.com.
Love the controller, but the iOS app has room for improvement. Web site is great and so is Android app. iOS app doesn’t even have ability to end a cook or support notifications.
My phone doesn’t make any sounds when a notification from the app comes in. Yes, I checked all my settings. It makes it worthless if I don’t hear an alarm go off about the pit or meat temp because oh wait, there’s no alarm. Just visual notification. Also, there needs to be a way to start a cook, stop a cook, pause a cook, besides just plugging and unplugging the base unit. Both these seem like no brainers. If these don’t get fixed, I’m go to sell the flame boss and go with another company that actually has a working app. Would love a response from the developer.
I agree with other reviewers: it could use some improvements to the audio notifications (texts are nice, but prefer an in app message), should update without having to leave Cook and reenter, but that’s an easy workaround. Also end cook button in the app would be once(it’s on the website now). I’d also like to be able to see temps on the graph lines instead of just time. Having said all that. It’s awesome. Beautiful. Easy to use. I love having the cook history to see what happened last time. I’ve done 18 cooks in a year with this app and I can go back and check the graphs of each one each one very easily. Going to keep on cooking too.
Like others, my top requests would be to refresh the page so we don’t have to exit and renter to get an update and to add temperature along with the time display when I touch the graph. A different request would be to give us the options if multiple cooks in a day. It seems there is no way to “end” a cook. While I look forward to the next release, I am loving the ability to maintain temperature with such accuracy as well as the history and notes. Keep up the great work! Oh, and please add the ability to name the probes! Thanks.
App works fairly well, could use features added that others mentioned as well with regards to ending a cook and starting a new one. Graph could be improved.
The app works well for me. The graphs aren’t as feature rich as the website. Perhaps the app could have a more refined look and feel, but I’m happy with it.
Not sure if it’s the app or the new flameboss 400, by this is garbage.
App doesn’t stay connected and goes offline all the time. Notification doesn’t work. Product is good but app is garbage.
The trend on the phone (iPhone 6, iOS 12, latest version of App) is pretty crappy. The measurement bar (when you touch and move across graph/trend) does not show temps or time. It’s just a bar that moves with your finger. I have to sign onto website to see the balloons that show measurements at a point in time. You need to add this functionality and you need to enable the trend to autorotate when phone is turned sideways.
Smoking our Thanksgiving turkey and I’ve been unable to log into the app. It seems there’s always some kind of an issue with holidays. The app also is not remembering my sign data and all I get is a never ending pinwheel.
