So much better than Files

Danmooo

Works excellently with my Samba NAS, loads fast and thumbnails actually work! Native Files has horrendous problems with load times and doesn’t thumbnail, this works so much better. I’m extremely happy that lots of video formats like webm work without issues as well

Needs tabs!

Andrew Kershaw

Overall, I’m very happy with FE File Explorer. I have a handful of networked shares mapped spanning SMB, OSX, and WebDAV, and i use it daily to manage files between my iOS and PC/Mac devices. It does everything i need it to do. One annoyance: the built-in video player uses a non-standard UI which doesn’t give me the control I expect. Also, sometimes when moving files between folders, i find that i really want a tabbed file browser so that i can have multiple locations open simultaneously. This is not a criticism but rather a suggestion to make the app even better.

Can’t Do Without It

It'sFullOfStars

I’ve had this app for so many years that I can’t remember how long I’ve had it. I use it to transfer files from my home NAS to my Apple devices and I seriously couldn’t do without it. This one app expands my access to Terabytes of data and photos that I store on my home network. Without it my iPad and iPhone would lose a great deal of functionality for me.

Does everything it claims to do with a high degree of fit and finish.

Well executed utility. The sort of app iOS needed badly. One thing is missing: File associations. There IS an “edit with” capability, but limited to certain file extensions. This facility needs generalizing into a “run with” or “ open with” file association. Then other apps can run the file, and one can use file explorer to find and select the file and another app to open the file, similar to Windows file explorer. I do not know how difficult this is in iOS.

Bought for VLC like video browser

HawaiiMaui

I already bought another file browser app with SMBv2 (Win10) network support. But this File Explorer app kicked its butt in non-quirkiness. A video should drag shuttle ff and rew (like VLC) in my opinion. The other browser jumped to another movie when I tried to use it to quickly rewind instinctively. I bought this app because its UX was better on vids. Really appreciate the free version, it let me see how great this app is. Very fast SMB browsing of all my online scanned mail, (I use jpg in the scanner and don't want it merged in a pdf.) It's fun scrolling through mail or old photos quickly on the iPad. This app also has a super nice photo backup option, pick a folder album in iOS and it can copy it to your PC over SMB (maybe Dropbox, etc. I just have tons of space on the local PC, back it up to two drives and then I can clear them from the iPhone.) It even takes the Live photos and makes a jpg AND a video file. One more thing I use a lot, Safari has a Save as PDF, I can pick FE File Explorer and save it to my PC! (All features are while at home of course, but you can download files from a PC to the iPhone to view on the road in FE.)

Must have

Great app for file management between cloud services local device and NAS! Keep up good work!

File Explorer should take a hint from Android

The Beno

Can connect to other devices on my network which is awesome. The rub is that the file browser itself is shamefully inadequate. Image viewer can’t show exif info, can’t duplicate a file in place, can’t save-as. The list goes on. Lots of useless features that seemed like they took a while to develop. Cx File Explorer on Android is light years ahead of FE. You are the best iOS option, as far as I know, so forgive the passion but just saying your app could be stellar.

Well worth the purchase

snadharn

Been using for years, before there was a Files app from Apple, and is still indispensable as of iOS 14. Possibly the most useful app in the entire store.

Free version works, pro version doesn’t

Thumperjrdn

The free version logs in to my network drives within seconds. The pro version, that I paid for, refuses to connect to the exact same drives, keeps saying connection timed out, and yes the drive path and password is correct.

Latest update broke FTP

Sysres

Latest update broke FTP connection. It takes forever to load even over LAN. Before an update it was instant. NetBios connection still buggy. Sometimes is asking for login credentials even so I have guest account enabled on my NAS. Before an update it never asked for credentials. I now have to put blank login and click connect and remember login, silly. Also even connected it is much slower response compared to what it was before. How can I get version 10.1 back? It worked like a charm.
