Very detailed review

Faterainbow

FGO is a game that has largely remained the same even with multiple years, top grossing placements, and surveys. Positives- • GOOD STORY: can be a bit cringy in my opinion while also taking a while to get good, and i’m not that big into it, but i cannot deny it makes you want to stop at times and numerous people in the community seem to enjoy it and are excited to see what the next addition brings. Nasu leaving in the future might affect this though. • GREAT ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM: pretty robust making your units feel more trophy like and unique when compared to others in the game that might have the same unit. • ENJOYABLE GAMEPLAY: very tactical/interesting, and it has it’s issues but whats there is great whilst having a lot of depth and can leave you thinking of team combinations and strategies constantly. •GOOD SOUNDTRACK: there’s really enjoyable music here. It can be few and far in between at times especially because your going to be farming a lot listening to the same sounds, but when you get to some stages it can be pretty profound and enjoyable. •GREAT CHARACTER DESIGN: in depth bio, voice lines. Its very likely there is a character for you in this game that will make you enjoy the gameplay even more and make that enhancement system feel all the more better when applying it to them. Negatives- • TERRIBLE GAMEPLAY LOOP:the game has good gameplay, but you can barely play it. Your looking at multiple dead weeks back to back with barely anything to do if you decide to play the game. This is can be pretty jarring when you want to play the game more and use that servant you just invested all your time and resources into maxing out, but the game pushes you away, so you leave and invest your time and energy into something else only for the game to want you back and require all your time, energy, interest only to push you away again; rinse and repeat. It’s almost as if its a main game trying to be a casual game when its not. You get punished for playing casually and it can be pretty hard to play when not interested. •REPETITIVE GAMEPLAY: challenging content thats worth all that enhancing and theory-crafting is few and far in between. This leads to the game feeling stale at times and only makes all those dead weeks it took to get to something all the more worse. Although the game has an excessive amount of farming you do change up your team a lot and do have a few questions to ask yourself when team-building even when its to farm, so that it doesn’t necessarily feel all the same or repetitive as much as you’d expect. Still though, very little variety outside of a change in scenery a lot of the time. •ROUGH BEGINNER EXPERIENCE: progress is slow and most of it is done in certain events that are few and far in between. •LOW RATES: this one doesn't bother me as much because i think it adds to that trophy aspect with the units, but it is something that bothers a lot of people about this game. Seeing as you also don't get a lot of quartz outside of anniversary, if you want a unit you better be ready to save for months, get your credit card, or rng it constantly. •POWER CREEP: this is no surprise to anyone I'm sure but the way fgo does it is just one of a kind. IT’s usually 1 unit. They take 1 unit to an extreme where over half of your box feels irrelevant. No nerfs just unforgivable design with 1 or 2 skills taking it too far. This leads to a meta style of gameplay where your just using teams that this 1 unit supports constantly leading to water downed gameplay and uninspired team building. •TERRIBLE GAME DESIGN: little to no information on what a fight is gonna be like or what the enemies effects are. This leads to cheap defeats where you have to reset once or multiple times. Multiple fights have counters to certain units that see little to no play. This leads to even more teams with only the power creep units because older designs for units that add more flavor to the gameplay or team building are just irrelevant to use. Little to no gameplay updates in general. This leads to problems with certain characters especially quick characters where they need their card and chain to be buffed, but instead they make players wait years for them to design a power creep character that doesn’t fix the issue entirely. Unnecessary rng where players cant see when a boss is going to use certain effects leading to more cheap defeats or wasted skills making certain character designs feel wasted. This especially makes the gameplay feel watered down and not as satisfying as it should sometimes. This all leads to more generic max damage teams. •2 year gap between JP server: this isn’t a negative for most ppl but for me personally it is and here is why. Because we are 2 years in the past all these negatives have a very low chance of being fixed any time soon. It splits the community up makes things like new unit releases and story less exciting. Very high chance you get spoiled for story if your into that as well. Affects the experience in general because you will summon for a unit and jp releases a power crept version. Certain servants on NA feel less trophy like because everyone knew they were coming and summoned. •BAD MANAGEMENT: considering this is going to be the deciding factor on what product your given its not great for this to be in the negative. They’ve wasted their time energy and peoples money constantly adding things like more enhancement features some of which in the future on the jp server help their bottom line instead of working on the games negatives. Gave more effort to the story instead of the gameplay. Little to no communication. They rush players story experience. Instead of spreading content out and investing a little less into their events to fix the dead week issue and add more depth to the gameplay loop they put everything into one event every time. This gameplay neglect from them has led to multiple uninspired character gameplay designs particularly on the jp server.

Great but…

OkitaBestWaifu

This game has a very good story, but suffers from the syndrome of only starting to get interesting later on. The gameplay has turned-based strategy and focus on team composition in later chapters, and in boss battles. Early gameplay, you can just unga bunga with help from someone. The gacha is very controversial, as some say that the low rates of getting a 5 star makes it feel special to get them, but In my opinion I disagree, because what’s the point if you save for months and get nothing and also since there is no pity so spending 1000 or even 5000 quartz won’t guarantee you anything. I also think that the way to get or amount of the quartz should increase, since the only way you can get a large amount of quartz is only on anniversaries.

Amazing!!

Leminies

This game is amazing and the story is great! The events are well done and makes you grind if you want something rather than paying your way through. 10/10 would recommend if you love the fate series.

Just.. no

ryyyyyyyyguy

Okay, I can’t even open the game. It keeps telling me I have a failed connection and to check my wifi when I’m running close to a gig speed. Not my internet, just your game. Can’t even play to truly review. IVE NEVER EVEN WRITTEN A REVIEW THIS MAKES ME SO MAD.

Customer Support

neededhelp1234

I lost my account and contacted support. I didn’t expect them to get back to me but they responded quickly and super politely.

Wanted to show love, but a crap company is crap..

jefeludo

Great game, literal trash company…rates for units abysmal and all around structure is built so you spend money for things you want or have a very low chance of getting. No pity so if you spend 100+ dollars and get nothing told you so. But the players are the greedy ones for wanting or hoping to get a unit they want.

Really good events

RicardoHill

All the servants are usable so even low tier units can be really good also like the fact it has dead weeks which lets you do other things in the game like catch up in the story if have been lagging behind

The game is good but.

jadelion78

The game is good but when you pulling for new characters you will keep getting common characters and mostly craft essence

Summon crash bug

Chaosis#1

Every time I try to go to summon, App crashes. I’ve tried closing the app entirely, turning off the device, and waiting but this issue has persisted for weeks. I didn’t mind before because I was saving summon currency but now I want to summon and can’t.

Decent game

Bolorg

I mean what can I say that hasn’t already been said? Fgo is a solid gacha. Somewhat repetitive gameplay but I haven’t been far enough into the mid-game to speak much yet. Rates are downright horrendous 1% chance for a 5 star is a complete and utter lie I have rerolled on multiple occasions, going 20 deep each time and it takes usually around 200 summons to finally nab one so beware.
