gets you close

I am doing long exposure photography where I add a ton of ND filters, and need to calculate the new exposure time. This gets me close but there are a number of shortcomings: no partial f-stops like f9, no limited shutter speeds, and it would be nice if it had an ability to add x% to the total exposure time to compensate for ND over 10 stops. In an app market where the competition is terrible to non-existent, it's about as good as you're going to get, which is about a 3 star app

None better

As a network photographer I have used almost every professional exposure app on the market but my go-to app is Mario's "Exposure Calculator" This is the most accurate and fastest calculator I've found. I've spoken with Mario and he's just improved this product so it'll be even more powerful. Can't wait for the newest update due out any day now. If you're a serious photographer and need an exposure calculator (especially for the 1.8 and above ND filters) get this app. Update: just downloaded the new update and it ROCKS! A big shoutout to Mario.

EXPOSURE CALCULATOR REVIEW

Iamctulhu

I was looking for a ND Calculator for Long Exposure Photography. And after looking at the selection offered on iTunes, I purchased this app. And since this app was new, there were no reviews posted. And that is why I’m posting this review. The lay out of this app is overly confusing. And not intuitive at all. It’s very frustrating using this app. I find myself doing my long exposures the old fashioned way. PASS on this app. Get something else.

Exactly what I was looking for

I have begun shooting IR with a Fuji X100T/Hoya R72 and needed an app to quickly let me calculate exposures based on a quick wide-open, high-ISO test shot. (Shoot at f/2, ISO 6400 to get framing/exposure locked down) Once I have this base exposure, I want to calculate new settings at a smaller aperture and lower ISO values. This app does exactly that in a straightforward, one-screen interface. You set your base exposure at the top of the screen, select which setting you want the app to calculate (shutter, aperture or ISO) and set the two remaining settings where you want them. So when I want to keep my f/2, 6400 exposure the same at f/8 and ISO 200, the app figures out the shutter speed for me and even offers to send push notifications when it's time to end the exposure. Exactly what I needed, presented clearly with no distractions. Five stars.

Works very well: Highly recommended

As one reviewer stated, it's a bit confusing at first. And on the iPhone it seems a little daunting. But when I looked at it on the iPad the extra real estate made it come to life, and after a little practice it becomes easy to understand. My initial use was to take an iPhone photo of a dark scene that was nicely underexposed and try to replicate that exposure with a micro four thirds camera in manual mode. It actually calculated exactly what I had discovered by trial and error, only it dos it more quickly and let's me play with the settings. A superb app for what it does.

Excellent for calculating ND filters exposures

kcdouglas

Comprehensive app for calculating exposure times, especially when wanting to dial in different variables such as neutral density filters vs. shutter speed vs. ISO vs. aperture. Thanks to the developer!

Limited use

First of all it doesn't calculate exposures longer thank 30 seconds, secondly the interface is horrid. Thanks there are free calculators out there that are better so check them out before buying this

Perfect for what I was looking for

This app is perfect for large format cameras. Take a reading using a light meter, or even a digital camera. See what the exposure is that you get, input it into the app and then adjust your aperture to get the new shutter speed you’ll be shooting at. Easy and very customizable.

Does exactly what it should do

Finding equivalent exposures can honestly be a little daunting while your out, this speeds things up.
