From now on, the autonomous EVA-Shuttles will take you to your destination in Karlsruhe’s district Weiherfeld-Dammerstock barrier-free. You can book your ride conveniently and individually via app. The shuttles operate on demand – meaning without a fixed timetable and entirely according to you wishes and needs. There are a total of 30 virtual stops, which the shuttle covers from Monday to Sunday. As part of our research project, a ride with the EVA-Shuttle is free of charge for you till the end of June. The shuttle is operated by the Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe.
What’s special about it, is that the shuttle runs autonomously, without a driver. Experience the future of mobility, right on your doorstep – Meet the new EVA-Shuttle!
To ride along, you have to book a seat via app.
And this is how it works:
ENTER YOUR START AND DESTINATION ADDRESS
We’ll immediately show you where and when which vehicle can pick you and up to two other people up.
BOOK YOUR RIDE
Via app we navigate you to a nearby stop where you will be picked up. You can live track exactly where your vehicle is on its way to you.
RATE YOUR RIDE
Once you arrive at your destination, the shuttle will take you back to a virtual stop near your destination. From there, we’ll navigate you to your final destination via app. Finally, you can give us feedback and rate the experience via the app.

The EVA-Shuttle is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) as part of the research program “Automated and Connected Driving” with 2.52 million euros. Project partners are the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, Robert Bosch GmbH, Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe GmbH, TÜV SÜD and the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary ioki GmbH.
