I had been looking for an app that would speak as well as give me another word(s) to use. I was truly happy with my selection.

Having been brought up by a Mother who was OCD about not only word and and phrase usage but the entire "language" we spoke at home. It's a habit for me because it was the way she grew up herself and we had no idea that others would often misunderstand us. It's sometimes difficult because I've been accused of using words that most people have never even heard nor read. I simply did' understand when I started school. I am definitely not smarter than they but it forces me to constantly need to use both synonyms and antonyms that are perhaps more colloquial than what we spoke while growing up. THIS IS THE THESAURUS FOR ANYONE. Period. So easy to use, immediate results, so many words from which to choose thus making my own "language" much more understandable.

I'm writing a fictional novel in Microsoft Word (currently 325 pages) and have been using (for several years) the free online thesaurus at Thesaurus.com which has increasingly become an ad driven pain in the neck. I'm quite happy with this app. It's reliable, thoughtfully laid out and seems to be priced very competitively at $2.99. It supports split screen on the iPad so as I'm writing I can simply pull it in from the right, search for a synonym and get out fast. For me that's important as I write most every day and am always pulling in the thesaurus. The app is thoughtfully laid out and within its settings you'll find a wide array of switches that allow you to tailor the output to your needs. I can't honestly find a weakness although I do wish there was a switch in settings that would isolate multi-word synonym phrases from single word synonyms within each synonym category. That would speed up the hunt. Overall I think this is very nicely done, hats off to the developers.
