An irregular verb is a verb that does not follow the normal rules of conjugation. In English, the rule for regular verbs is simple: The suffix "ed" is appended to the verb for both the past tense and the past participle. But for irregular verbs, there is no rule. Sometimes the verb changes completely (sing, sang, sung), sometimes there is only a partial change (buy, bought, bought), and sometimes there is no change at all (cut, cut, cut).

How to use this app:
Level One:
In Level One, the sentence is spoken by the app when the frame appears, so the student can hear the correct verb. The student then slides the correct
word into the sentence.
Level Two:
In Level Two, there is no audio clue to the correct answer, and the sentences have a mixture of both regular and irregular verbs
Advanced Level:
In the Advanced Level, the student is presented with each verb and must select the correct conjugation for both past tense, and past participle. The student must also correctly identify the verb as either regular or irregular.
This app allows each student to work at their own level. It is ideal for self paced learning or home schooling.

This app allows you to pick which verbs to target. It has nice pictures. My student enjoyed playing it.

Very good app to use for students developing language skills in SLP therapy. Very good pictures. A problem a see that really needs to be addressed is the speech quality. Some articulation of the regular /ed/ endings is not clear enough and I have heard words containing the /l/ phoneme pronounced as an /r/ sound. These glitches have confused some of my caseload students.

This app seems really good and has the potential to be helpful for my struggling child, however, after a few minutes of use, the screen freezes and the only thing that gets us back in is to turn off the iPad and restart it. Irritating. This has happened with all three Abitalk apps I purchased. I'm not likely to spend money on one of their apps again.

This is a great app for reg vs. irregular past tense. But for me it would be even more useful if in the Advanced Level it also targeted 3rd person singular form verbs instead of past participate. Kids (and many grown-ups) have such difficulty with this form. For example;They incorrectly say "She sleep all day" instead of "She sleeps all day". What would be even better is if the Advanced level required you to put the verb in all of its commonly used forms. Base - Present Progressive - Past - Future - 3rd Person Singular, etc.
