Never before has our world been shaken up by such a multiplicity of fundamental shifts: from the Arab Spring to the London Riots, from the financial crisis to the groundbreaking research at CERN institute. With Energy Flow, FIELD presents a close-up study of 10 animated stories inspired by these shifts.
Energy Flow observes the instinct-driven movements of wild animals; a memory of anarchy and chaos on our streets; games of chance symbolising the mathematical chaos that holds our universe together; and much more. The lush and powerful animations pay tribute to contemporary painting as well as the new aesthetic of today's science and technology.

DIGITAL STORYTELLING - ALGORITHMIC FILMS AND MUSIC

The bespoke algorithmic system of Energy Flow interlinks the stories into countless unique film experiences. From a quick dream rush to a meditative impression, each iteration of Energy Flow presents a different abstract narrative full of crosslinks and connotations; reflecting that there is never just one perspective on our complex world.
FIELD collaborated with German sound artist David Kamp to drive the sound and music composition from the same system, creating a one-off soundtrack blending experimental electronica with classical instruments for each iteration of Energy Flow.

000 after spinning top dozens of times

Nothing plays and while the spinner spins and makes a noise as if it is increasing in numbers, the value never exceeds 000. Nothing plays and it takes you back to the menu. I've tried spinning it in very middle, throwing the top outside the square, everything and nothing plays.

All you do is spin a top and then a short video plays. The graphic design that has gone into the videos though are really good. Other than that, the videos don't make any sense and there's no point in spinning the top. The only thing saving this app from being deleted from my phone are how stunning the visuals are. Will probably only last a week before I delete it though.

Ok, so, I start the app, spin the top, but then the app crashes as soon as the video starts... I've tried restarting my iPod and all of that. Please fix this!! I'm really hoping that you will fix that problem.

Beautiful app that is very relaxing. The different art pieces randomly put together by the apps logarithms are very pleasing to the eye. It would be wonderful to have an option where the top spins itself so you can have an unending "playlist". This would be great to put through my television on endless repeat. Have my own little art piece playing in the background. Great job on the app, it's very original and refreshing to see.

I agree that this is not the kind of production that is going to appeal to many people but, as far as experimental video, this little app is top notch. The visuals are simply stunning and the soundtrack is wonderfully crafted and matched to the visuals! The behind the scenes section is very interesting. Don't miss it. If you like experimental/conceptual video this is a tour-de-force. My kudos to the team that put this together. Well done guys! My only regret is that I wish this app could be expanded with additional video content, but otherwise this is a superb production.
