Very nice. I like the varied levels. However, some pictures are overly theatrical and do not look realistic.
As an SLP, I love that it has a variety of levels. It is hard to find an app that includes a variety of scenarios and real life pictures. It also makes it very easy to take data and measure progress.
This is a great app! Easy to use, love the real images and the audio feedback is great for the kids. This will be a great tool to use.
As a parent I really value this app for the opportunity it offers me to interact with my child at home.
Simple, clean and real pictures. Positive reinforcement and summary page are helpful.
I like the varying levels, but I hate kid "games" that don't show you the correct answer when you guess wrong (or let you guess again, even if it's technically marked as incorrect). **This is how all their apps work.** Also, surprise and scared seem to look a lot alike, though they never appeared on the same screen (yet?) so I guess that's good. Overall a neat app but it's not perfect.
Teaching children how to not only recognize an emotion on ones face, but to also recognize what someone might be feeling in a situation (empathy) are great skills to teach all children. I found this app to not only do just that, but the photos of real kids and adults along with real life situations for them to depict was someone might be feeling is a major plus for this app. Having an app that starts with the most basic of skills and then continues on a hiearchy is another plus for this app. Very customizable. Worth the purchase.
As a learning resource teacher, I like the multiple options this app has for assessing a child's knowledge. The score at the end is also a nice feature. Having photographs of real people is a definite plus! My main criticism is about the exaggerated expressions of the people. As a previous reviewer (Gigi) mentioned, they are too theatrical. I would prefer more natural looking expressions. In the real world, no one will look like Macaulay Culkin, from Home Alone movie, when they are scared, so why would I want to teach this.
I love using this app with my speech and language clients. They real faces help more than other cartoon-type faces, I have seen and used. I love the clean and easy to use format.
