i loves me all the best happi dudes and gals at Elliot but Just restored a screwy iPad 2016 9.7 from iCloud. ALLL SAVES GONE. i only played and experimented with the drum machines but, heinus and groady to the maxx all you Zappa’s! Do: screen shoot your beat patterns at least if you haven’t.
I've had this app for a while now and it still remains fun and sounds great! The original interface implementation is spot on and the addition of the “quick pattern” function makes pattern adjustments a breeze. I would love to see AudioShare implementation, but that does not take away from what this app is designed to be - a great 808 emulation. Thank you!
Great app, very pleased to have an 808 as an AU. I’m having one issue with it in Cubasis though. When I open a song that I made using this app, it does not retain and of the pitch or decay or any other settings that i edited, they all return to the default settings. I also wish we could save kits to use again. It would also be nice if the decay could last longer, but my main issue is with it not remembering settings when reopening songs.
Excellent emulator with many solid features including a more modern sequencer interface. If it could export or send midi, I’d use it heavily.
Great interface. Good sound. That's where it ends. The main flaw of this app, and I have no slightest idea how it is possible, is that the tempo is incorrect. Let me explain. I chose 124BPM and recorded pattern 1 and 2 in Logic DAW. First, I could swear, it sounded like tempo was floating. When I truncated the waveform and looped four measures - loop had a glitch as the length of the waveform exceeded 4 measures of 124BPM and the attack of the kick that had to land on the beat 1 measure 5 was in the very end of the measure 4. This is unusable. The drum machine HAS to be exactly that - A Machine. For better or for worse. You also have to be able to record your own patterns and do some other things that drum machines, and TR-808 did. Until then - it is a toy for $0.99 cents.... Hope it will be improved, as there is a great promise in this little app.
Buffer under runs are all I hear. I was able to get things to play normally 1 time since I have purchased the app. The pattern handling is not intuitive and the tempo is very eager to jump to 120 bpm. On a real 808 the tempo is independent of pattern so there is a design flaw here that changes the tempo when the pattern is changed. I know enough about DSP and core audio to know that building a faithful reproduction of a tr808 is a non trivial task, but this software is not production ready. It's a shame too as the UI looks great and I had been really excited by this app. I will hope a later version corrects these issues and makes this a usable app. If so I will gladly post a new review to praise its glory.
