Really fun app to discover. There are things I wish I could do and probably can, just don't know how yet... going to watch the videos and get really good so I can quit my day job!!! ...or create some fun background music for daughters videos...

Tl;dr: Buggy. Unpolished. Chintzy, slow animations. Doesn't keep the screen unlocked and then cuts the audio off when the screen locks. I downloaded this app because I had left my iPad with iMaschine at home and I needed an app that'd allow to create and playback a basic beat for a church service. The layout of this app is filled with unlabeled buttons, which is made more problematic by how unintuitive the interface seems to be. Nevertheless, this one was the least difficult to use out of the three "free" apps I downloaded, so I stuck with it. I managed to create the beat just fine, but I was limited to one bar (measure), even though the screen & control that supposedly adjusted the length of the pattern didn't actually work. Once I hooked the 6S+ into the PA system, I noticed that every time I unlocked the phone (with this app open) it would make a loud popping sound (similar to the pop made when plugging a cable in when the channel's not muted.) To make matters worse, when I started the track and we all sang along to it, the track stopped when the screen automatically dimmed and locked. Just cut off. Abruptly. In the middle of the song. What?! This category (one off instruments and "beat machines") on the App Store seems to be full of apps like this---ugly, counterintuitive, buggy, and unpolished. I'd recommend sticking with an app from a professional audio company (Novation, Native Instruments, or even Apple's GarageBand)

With only a cursory knowledge of drum machines (I use the Akai xr20), I was making beats immediately. Intuitive app with the features I need to keep the inspiration going while I'm riding the subway. One of the biggest features is that you can easily IMPORT YOUR OWN SOUNDS OMG!!! This is a feature I've struggled to find in something besides an Akai MPC which is expensive and hard to use. Phat beats with my own acoustic guitar finally came together and I couldn't be more psyched YAS QUEEN!!!
