Fun and thoughtfully created

Hermit's Rest

I have cheerfully spent more time playing this game than any other app based game. The game doesn’t require much money to play it well; I have spent $5 (to acquire the sixth imp) and don’t foresee spending any more. Gameplay rewards strategy rather than reflexes, which is good for an old gamer like me. The weaknesses of the game are minor. The game sometimes rewards losing over winning. Tournament play can feel more like competition between guild members rather than competition between guilds. All-in-all a charming and satisfying game.

It's great

Sad

Sad for the company greed. Should be like the original pay 1 time and play not " I need a new BMW so buy some gems"

Lotta fun

This is a great app. The learning curve is a little steeper than I expected but the tutorial is great and you should get up to speed real quick if you've played RTS games before.

AWESOME

Gets More Disappointing as you Play

David Eric Foster

The first big problem with this game is the fact that it's a money grab by EA. Unless one is willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an app (there's actually a $99 package!) then there is nothing else but to resign one's self to mind-numbingly slow gameplay. It quickly gets to the point of starting one's imps on a job, then waiting most of the day, or all day, or two days, before anything else can happen (unless you pay up). The next, bigger problem is that this turns this app into a kind of a sim game. That might be fine in some contexts, but it isn't Dungeon Keeper. The loading screen reads "loading your unruly minions", which is cute until you realize that they aren't unruly in the least. They don't fight with each other, or complain about not getting paid, or do anything other than exactly what you tell them to. There's no chaos, no weirdness, no real charm—just the grind of building a dungeon and running standard raids. It's Clash of Clans with Dungeon Keeper walpaper. The longer one plays, the more one wonders if the creators actually played the original game—or, if they did, whether they actually liked it. While there are a few scraps of cleverness still hanging on to the edges, one increasingly wonders why it's even called Dungeon Keeper—except as a useful title for a money grab. Really, I'd have been willing to send EA stacks of money if they'd made something that really captured the original. This game tries to get your money by making itself as boring as possible.

Sad

The game itself is actually quite enjoyable, too bad it's such a blatant money grab. Come on EA, you guys don't have enough money? Pretty bloody greedy.
