Help your child learn the sight words using Dr. Gary Brown's DTT Words! Sight words are the first words that your child should learn to recognize. This version of DTT Words includes hundreds of sight words for preschool, kindergarten, first, second and third grade children. Each word can be spoken by either a male or female voice, and then your child can select the word from a list of words shown on the screen. (This app is currently English only.)
This app has been tested extensively in Dr. Brown's clinic with children who have autism, ADHD, and other developmental disorders. DTT (Discrete Trial Training) is not a children's game. It is a therapy based on years of scientific research. DTT is the primary teaching method used in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach numerous pre-academic and social skills to children with autism. This app can be used to help teach sight words to children with autism, attention deficit disorder (ADD), or attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). The apps also can be used by any child who has trouble staying on task.
Finding the right therapy for a child with autism can be overwhelming. Only Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has years of scientific research proving its effectiveness and is recommended by The National Institute of Mental Health and the Surgeon General. But caregivers quickly learn that well-trained therapists in ABA are expensive and hard to find. During my forty years of clinical experience as a Licensed Psychologist I have tried to provide low-cost ABA resources for caregivers so they can do their own ABA. ABA and DTT increases your child's likelihood of being mainstreamed, increases happiness, and gives you hope.

My students love working with this app. Thank you for adding the ability to track multiple student data. This app not only lets me see what words my student know, it allows me to start working with them at a very basic level and then work up to more difficult trials. It is simple, offer visual/auditory rewards, and is able to be modified for each student's need.

This app is not a game, it has no bells or whistles, just flash cards. This is fabulous, it is highly customizable, and tracks user data, you choose the interval length between trials, which words you want to be the correct answers, and how long you want the trial to last. I have been using it to teach my 3 year old to read sight words, and in just 3 days of minimal use of this app with me, she has mastered 5 sight words, including being able to read them outside of the app. She is so excited to be learning to read. This app makes a great supplement to phonics instruction, and is very effective if you follow the DTT methodology. If you are unfamiliar with discrete trial training, this app gives a thorough, easy to understand explanation of how to use it.
Crashing/won't open

Crashed all the time with iOS 5 won't even open with iOS 6. I paid for this app and add-ons. Hope it's fixed soon.

Love the app, but since os6 upgrade it won't even open. Love how you can customize for each child and keep data, sure the big will be fixed soon!

Do not purchase. When I lost the extra grade levels and had to download again I was charged another thirteen dollars. Hard time getting in touch with them.
