Awesome your own cloud sync off your NAS

MikeyP1024

Full featured cloud sync between devices. Very configurable user group level privileges. Can even give friends userIDs assign them to a group. Can specify sync wifi only to save LTE usage if say was family sync. Synology NAS are known for simplicity. Am not an IT professional but a computer professional.

5 stars so far

I just started using this when Microsoft onedrive changed their policies and also deleted a business account that I had with them. I wish I used this earlier, its awesome and very compatible for the iphone. It can open and view files faster than onedrive on wifi or cellular. It also feels better to know all your stuff is not stored in some huge server room in god knows where.

Not a real "cloud" app, crashes...

StuartDole

First, which is not a problem per se, is that this works with the Synology network disks - you have to have that. And I do, which is fine. If you don't, this won't help. Second, it hard crashes my iPhone. I had not yet had any hard crashes, until yesterday when I installed this app, and I got two of them. These are the hard crashes where the phone is completely frozen - no response to any of the buttons and the screen is frozen. Third, this is not really a "cloud" app, like iCloud or Google Drive. You can't save a document from Microsoft Word on your iPad to your Synology disk. At least I couldn't find out how. (No problem with Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.) Instead it copies (synchs) the files from the shared folder(s) on your Synology disk to your iDevice. But since the file system in iOS is not user accessible, this is kind of useless. Fourth, since it's synching the files from your Synology folders to your iDevice, it can fill up the memory on your iDevice. Maybe it's useful if you're a developer and want to get at that stuff?

Needs an update badly

Works pretty well, BUT as on iOS 10.2, I have lost the ability to save a image to my iPhones camera role, which is hugely important. Please fix this feature ASAP. Regarding that specific feature in general. It should not be buried so deep down in the preview area, which is where is was before. It should be on the file properties page too.

PDF searching kind of broken

Only1Change

The app syncs fine, I haven't had any issues with that part of the app. I have found that searching PDF files is broken. It will find all the instances of the search term but it will only take you to the first instance you tap on. Iow, if you tap on the wrong instance and go back to tap on the right one it takes you back to the first instance you tapped on. Not sure of that makes sense but try and see for yourself. It will only jump to the first one you tap on from then on.

There's no reason you need my GPS location even when the app isn't running

Works

BJackson21!

I use this app to sync 1 share folder with documents I use on my tablet and computer. I love it! Everything is synced usually pretty fast and other apps have no issue getting a file from the cloud!

Not really a cloud drive

ZeeJae

1. You cannot share files to/from other applications (others reviews have mentioned this too). For example if I want to copy a file to photos app, it is not possible. 2. I change password frequently. Changing password requires unlinking from the server and redo the setup. Very annoying - no option to change password I think the developers of iPhone app have not given much thought to usability of this app.

Not even close to Dropbox or Drive

I had high hopes for this app and service and it’s incredibly close, but the simple fact that all files need to sync to view makes this app pointless. Let me know when it works like Dropbox.

Missing basic functionality

Bought the Synology NAS to backup my iPhone files as I ran out of space on iCloud (need to backup about 10,000 files). Started by synchronizing my photos over WiFi via DS Cloud, but had to stop the process after 10 hours as needed to take my phone with me. DS Cloud did not resume the initial synchronization when I connected back to my WiFi, so only 3,000 files were backed up. Tried a few times and still no success. Unfortunately, I cannot leave my phone at home for 30+ hours to run the initial synchronization. Can we please add the option to properly resume the initial sync? DS Photo has it, so would think it’s easy to replicate in DS Cloud. Without this feature, my Synology NAS is basically useless...
