This does not work!! I cannot connect my iPhone to my tv. Needs update and this app does not provide it. I am going to return this lightning connector immediately. I’d give zero stars but it doesn’t allow that.

Luckily I still have my iPad running iOS 10 as the 11.3 update I did this week on my phone stopped the adapter from working on the phone and once that happened this adapter firmware update app didn't work via phone connection. (Note you can verify if update worked by checking the last digit of the firmware code which appears underneath the QR code when you have adapter hooked up to power and hdmi but not yet to the phone - and compare last digit shown in the app. Also note the rest of the firmware should match otherwise you have selected the wrong model). . . . Anyway the update worked with iPad where the adapter still worked. If it it is updating properly you will not hear the noises and you will see message (replaces the iPhone mirrored image) "Updating" on your TV / Monitor screen (it still says that even after app says complete, don't worry just unplug all cords and reboot / restart adapter). Then I saw the new number of V0001 updated to V006, and then iPhone worked again, yay! Also iPad still works. So bottom line if it doesn't run update properly find someone still running an older iOS and run it with their phone. Otherwise perhaps check the website for the manufacturer iphonehdtv.com (you need a computer because it uses Flash plugin)

App is supposed to upgrade HDMI cables sold on Amazon in the US so they can be used with iPhones or iPads, app is not written in English and doesn’t run on iPads.
