pretty good, no rules though?
CaptainJanks

As far as I can tell, no actual explanation of how things work. could use a tutorial or a rule book in the app somewhere.

Great game, sound issues
Rick Kolesar

Love the game and like learning the game as I play (thanks for not handholding). But I cannot listen to my own music while playing. Really would love that fixed.

Pretty fun but...
jonnymilba

Please add option to turn off sounds. Would love to listen to music while I play with sounds off so it doesn't keep stopping my songs. Also, a tutorial would be nice, although playing a while can solve this. Fun game otherwise.

Beautiful and addictive!

A work of art!

One more time into the abyss!
Zany4

This new version puts on a little visual polish and the improvements in display at the top and info on the cards make your current progress more understandable. The average new user may still want to see the developers game guide on his website but it's fun to figure it out for yourself too. Simple, addictive, quick-play dungeon run using a regular poker card deck. For 99 cents is a great value because you will keep wanting to play over and over just to see if you can get to the end of the deck dungeon. Draw 4 cards, equip shield, slay monsters, heal with potions and exit the deck dungeon. Red cards are beneficial. Black cards are harmful. Diamonds are shields, Hearts are potions, Spades, Clubs and Jokers are monsters. Red number cards equal their value and face cards (J, Q, K, A) equal 11. You begin with a max of 21 health points and can never go higher. You can only drink one health potion per room. You can fight a monster without shield, but suffer full damage. Equipping a shield allows you to absorb the damage difference from the monster value. If you have an 8 shield equipped, by attacking a 9 monster you suffer 1 damage. Shields can only defend monsters in descending value and if you use a shield on a higher value monster than the previous, it will break. Broken shields leave you unarmored, and you take full damage. Black number cards equal their value and face cards are as follows J is 11, Q is 13, K is 15, A is 17 and Jokers are both equal to 21. Once you have dealt with at least 3 cards, you can move onto the next room (set of 4 cards), moving the remainder card to the bottom of the deck. Running away from the room moves the cards to the bottom of the deck. You can run away from a room you have not interacted with, once in a row. The card artwork and procedurally generated castle intro screen are pleasantly minimalistic and cool. Highly recommended!

Fun, addictive, simple
Callishka

This game is fun, addictive, and simple. Love the black metal art design. Beware—it's tough. Still haven't beaten it. The rules are little bit obscure, but I'm getting the hang of it. This review is getting in the way of my playing the game more. Stop bothering me.

Great design! A fun challenge once you figure out the rules.
Phort99

You should take some time and put in a few dozen games to figure out the rules, as this is an excellent game design, slightly obscured by the opaque ruleset. The meta strategy of preparing yourself for what could come in the next room and stashing cards for later use is clever. The ability to count cards would be valuable in getting high scores, but is not required. The deck has 54 cards (the “jokers” are Donsol, the strongest enemy). Black suits are enemies, hearts heal you and shields protect you against the enemies you fight. Some tips for beginners: You can run from a room when there’s one card left. That card will go back in the deck. Avoid running from strong enemies when possible. Instead, run when you have a potion or shield you don’t need, to save it for later. Imagine the shield as a stack of cards. When you pick a shield, it replaces your old shield, and the next enemy you attack can have any strength. Attacking an enemy puts it on top of the stack. After that, you can only attack enemies with lower values than the top of the shield stack without breaking your shield. A fresh shield is the only way to defeat the Donsol (21) (Joker) enemies. The color of the word “health" indicates whether you drank a health potion on the last turn. On the first turn, you can reshuffle and get a new room if you don’t like the starting draw.

Please bring back watch support!
RJNC00

Was my favorite Apple Watch game but than the app for watch went away. Please bring back, would be a 5 star game than.

Pretty good solitaire game
Spiff26

I had previously given this app only 1 star only because there are no instructions. After figuring most of the game out on my own I found it to be a pretty good solitaire card game. The game only works in portrait mode on an iPad. Found some basic instructions online but still working on how shield fail and health loss is calculated. Other than that I now like the game.
