I left the app for a couple seconds and my entire essay was gone!! It was almost ten pages long!!!!
Not that awesome app
It keeps on crashing when I am typing and it doesn't save when I open it again. Very unhelpful.?

I have been on a quest to use the ipad for writing. iDocs has many features, and so far, offers the best mode of document portability by locally downloading documents. The issue, and it's a major one, is the app's instability. It requires constant saves not to lose work. While moving in and out of the app, it sometimes closes the document I've been working on and I have to select it again, hoping that I remembered to save when I left the program. I purchased the option for DropBox. Once downloaded, the document is saved in local downloads. Good and bad, this means I have to remember to export the document to DropBox, otherwise, my other devices do not have access to the version I've been working on. The good part is that the doc is available offline, which is essential for me. (This was my problem with CloudOn and ultimate dealbreaker, despite CloudOn offering more word processing functionality.) Functionality I've missed in the word program includes seeing pages & page numbers, inserting page breaks, indentation, ruler, paragraph styles, etc. Because of this, I have to go to another source to edit. If I set a font other than its Courier default, the font box displays Courier - it is not accurate in terms of font or line spaces. I am hanging in there with iDocs for ipad because it satisfies my most important requirement of offline editing capability. It is not as stable or feature rich as I would like it to be, but it is quite effective for using the ipad for word processing.

I have tried and tried to import a small document and it only crashes every time. It will not import my documents. I even tried importing them from dropbox and it will not import my documents. Not worth it.

I used to hate this app because I couldn't do anything, but now that I can use it, I think it's awesome. Perfect. Though I do wish it had word count. That's the only thing.

All I needed to do was edit docs from Dropbox and sync back. Not only do you get charged to access Dropbox, not only does the formatting not stay consistent with the original doc, but you can't sync back. This was not stated. They just present you with a window to buy and even then you don't know how much until you enter your iTunes creds. Thank god it was only .99. Still, waste of money and time.
