Dock your Boat

This boat- and harbour-simulator for docking and undocking under engine serves as a realistic trainer for skippers. The idea and the creation comes from an enthusiastic sailor.

The simulator helps to improve your skills in safe manoeuvring of sailing yachts in different environments such as in narrow spaces in ports and marinas, using the prop walk as well as the effects of crosswind and current. It also allows to handle lines and fenders.
Besides the playful character of this simulator game the learning effect is creating the most value added for users. A range of different scenarios with various levels of difficulties are available for selection.
Uncomplicated visual onscreen help with short text guidances passes on the basic principles to get a feel for the handling methods. Optionaly the Pro-Version offers wind and current to be modified. For advanced users we provide a scene-editor via in-app-pruchase.

Locks up on X

Had to power off and restart phone.

Paywall City

There’s nothing wrong with in-app purchases but this app won’t even start unless you create an account, pay for the premium version, or some combination of the two. The UI is hard to review because I didn’t get to do much except push the throttle up before another popup occurred. Please remove the popups and disable the need to login. It’s a game, not a social network.

Very realistic
HaveMuchFun

Excellent simulation, very realisticc

Very realistic, love it

This app simulates keelboat physics including prop walk and spring lines. Controls are difficult however. Moving fenders is frustrating and line handling equally so. If devs improve controls, this will be a 5 star. I already use it for teaching close quarter maneuvering.

Best in class!

Note to Developer: I have the full version of both 2-D and 3-D App’s. They each offer something a little different to boaters. This one is _still_ Fabulous. Please Don’t stop supporting it. —— Absolutely the best Boat motoring docking (or casting off) sim out there. The developer _obviously_ is a real sailboat owner who knows what’s really happening around marinas! If you are a skipper that has poked your head out of the cabin to remind a frustrated guest to “slow down” as you enter a channel at 2.5 knots, then this App will seem very realistic. I single-hand my 30 foot sailboat all the time. Sailing is easy, but motoring and maneuvering around marinas can be hard. This sim is great and I’ve had it for 2 years. You get more out of this App the more you play it (and the longer you’ve owned your real boat). The tutorials were ok but too challenging in my opinion. Don’t get discouraged, because the Gold in this Sim is the ability to create-your-own “sandbox” scenario. You can replicate marinas, and drive the boat around to practice docking. You can practice moving fenders at different spots around the boat. Experiment throwing lines at different angles and sequence. Try driving against a dock at different rudder angles and throttle. You can change current and wind; the scenarios are realistic. Then to leave the marina, the Sim lets you setup fenders and ease off the lines gradually to simulate a slipped line. My reason for finally writing a review was this morning I created a scenario replicating a local marina’s crazy pump-out location deep inside the marina. The pump-out is so hard to get to, it’s as if they don’t want sailboats to use it. I took a aerial photo off the internet, replicated the marina, took a 30 foot sailboat with prop-walk and started practicing “what-if’s”. (Tip: you can edit existing tutorial scenarios to make creation faster). I have the new 3-D version of the app too, but this 2-D version fantastic if you are a real sailboat owner. Honestly this App is not so much a tutorial. It’s more of a toolkit like the Navionics chartplotter app that I look at weekly. In retrospect, I should have used this App to replicate unknown destination marinas before a trip to practice the approach to transient slips.

Not ready for the market

Like others have said, the boat dynamics are spot on. But this app fails miserably in the fender and line control. The engine and rudder control are great. Controlling the lines is an exercise in pulling your hair out. For the life of me, I can not get a lined shortened. In real life it is one of the easiest things to do. I do as the program says, tap and hold, and it removes the line completely. Until the developers make line and fender control as intuitive as the engine and rudder control, my only recommendation is to save your money.

Great and cheap way to save your boat

This app is worth every penny. The boat handling is very realistic and gave me the confidence and skills I needed to dock my sailboat without damaging others. I only rated 4 stars due to kamikaze boats and the difficulty in tightening/lengthening lines. I’m looking forward to playing with the scene creator to replicate my local environment.

A train wreck
gsbdiver

Despite being about boats this apps execution is a complete train wreck. Pop ups over pop ups. Horrible UI. Very confusing to understand goals and learn to play. Essentially nothing to do without paying. Play to see what not to do in an app. Nothing else.

Waste of time
Captain Don 2

Not realistic. Engine has no reverse gear. The slightest brush against a dock at 0.1 knots results in a crash and knock you out of the game.

Very realistic, love it
Hanson24

Captain Don must be a very simple man. A quick read of instructions demonstrates reverse and "school mode" for eliminating damage. This app simulates keelboat physics including prop walk and spring lines. Controls are difficult however. Moving fenders is frustrating and line handling equally so. If devs improve controls, this will be a 5 star. I already use it for teaching close quarter maneuvering. I wonder what kind of boat Captain Don commands?
