Used to be fun

GradStarfleet

The game lessons and the practice leveled games were great. This newest version has some issues that need to be addressed though. Moving the pieces require very precise placement in order to keep them from popping back to their original location. That is annoying, but still enables the game to be played. The next issue, unfortunately does not--the game tends to either freeze or crash. I'm sure I'll enjoy it again when these bugs are fixed.

Great teaching tool

Empire Records

I got this to teach my nephew chess and he loves it. It does a great job of explaining chess to children. Not only does he understand the game, he has even been able to beat adults a few times! Fantastic teaching app.

Great app but sound problem

Dzdusa

Works perfectly on iPad, but no sound on iPhone 5. Please fix, my daughter loves!

Great App!!

Really like this app easy to learn and follow along with and really helpful for kids! Fun animations to keep them engaged and to keep them playing! Really nice app that I'll be using again and again and learning more and more!!!

My 5 year old wants to be a Grandmaster

I can't believe this app can teach a kid how to play chess and keep their attention with clever games and simple instructions. My son plays against his dad in real games. We think the app is great and worth the money. It's not just for kids but anyone who wants to learn.

Great app for my Grandson

cmamajesse

I love this app because by 5 yr old Grandson doesn't have to read in order to learn how to play chess. He enjoys the challenges and seems to be learning how to win them. The only thing that would be better is if this app was a KINDLE app also.

Great app

Wonderful app. I would like the moves to be more accurate with finger placement though. Sometimes a valid move is misread, and gives the buzzing error sound. This is negative instruction for young learners.

Problems with crashing

dcdc**

This app has been fantastic. My 6 year old has fallen in love with chess and is enjoying learning "strategy". Problem is that when he gets a piece into position for checkmate the game crashes and turns off. Every time. Luckily the game beats him more often than not, but it is an issue that should not occur.

Awesome for kids & grow ups!

Mom of M&R

As a kid I always wanted to learn chess and no one would teach me. When I had kids I decided I would make sure my kids would learn. I got the app hoping it could make it fun for them to learn, and found it made it fun for me as well. The games, when learning how to move the pieces, reinforce the material, and aids the learning process. Multiple levels of games help to build confidence to play a "real" game. My son 7 now loves chess and belongs to a club, and we play a game nightly. Thanks for teaching me later in life and giving my son and I new activity to bond over.

Good but crashes at end of all matches

DY73

I bought it for my daughter. She's already got some of the basics downbeat ore this app. This will move her forward, but the app crashes after each Chess Game. No apps paused in background. Reboot does not help either. Does not record the win, loss, or draw. --iPad 4 on iOS 7
