Fun But Unevenly Balanced Cash Grab

Starman6

It's a beautifully designed game that could have been even better than the original one, which I played for many months. I love that many of the maps let you modify the path the enemy will have to take. This aspect as well as being able to choose from a wide assortment of weaponry and how to upgrade them allows for a lot more strategic thinking than most TD games. The down side is that every aspect of this game is heavily monetized and the card drops are really disappointing. I won a level 45 battle in Hard mode 3 times and received the worst possible of 4 cards, 4 times in a row. This has happened in several battles now!! There are plenty of mediocre cards that will fill up your card slots so you'll need to buy more slots ;( 30 of my card slots are taken up by cards collecting shards. And, there's no way to delete any of those cards!! You'll end up watching more videos than playing actual battles on a day to day basis because of the shards and the lame timer system. Unless you pay Stars to "explore" new territory, of course. The uneven balance leads to things like a level 47 battle being much harder than a level 53 one. This happens often. The battles from level 50 onwards get seriously difficult where they throw everything and the kitchen sink at you right from the start. You'll have fewer build sites, Totems that have to destroyed immediately and not enough Prime or strong enough cards to start with (unless you buy them, of course, and they aren't cheap either). The payout for killing creeps is so low (even as they get tougher and more varied) that you won't often be able to upgrade your towers to their higher levels. We should be given more Prime at the start and get a better payout for killing creeps from level 45 onwards. This review would be twice as long if I listed all the different ways the game tries to extract cash from you. They nickel and dime you every step of the way!! I'm glad I only spent 15 bucks on this money pit and they're not getting another dime until they get their act together. I strongly advise others to not fall into their trap unless they have deep pockets. Yes, Developers deserve to make money but, their greed has ruined what could have been a great game. Too bad they forgot that we consumers have many other options in the App store to spend our time and money on. Still, it's well designed, free and fun for a while which is why I gave it 3 stars.

Excellent game, but missing revenue opportunities.

After the initial discount there are no additional chances to buy stars etc at a discount.

Poor support !

The game itself is ok, However, plan to invest $50-$100 to get to the higher levels. So I would not consider it cheap. My biggest gripe, is that in July they double charged me for resources (Stars). I have sent 3 tickets, and have yet to get a response (2 months ago). So I must rank them a 1 due to poor support.
