Having a tool to measure sound level anywhere, anytime is very helpful. I'm using it to gauge the effectiveness of sound insulation on my in-house air handler. Otherwise, it would be only guesswork. Great app!!

Profoundly hard of hearing. I use this app to determine what normal sound is, adjust tv, then adjust aids so everyone is hearing at same volume level.

Having purchased this app, I was quite pleases, however, after a recent update, suddenly a feature that I rely upon is broken as after a few minutes of use the screen is replaced by an advertisement.

Latest update takes away the ability to use the app for an unlimited amount of time, which we previously paid for.

Love having a dB meter in my pocket. So handy. Has a great UI too so it's easy to use.

(See update) (original review--5 stars). The calibration feature is uncommon among sound level apps–good feature. Clean design. The addition of a higher contrast screen toggle would be awesome. Another app that makes our phones that much more useful. (Update--3 stars). I want to like this app. Developer states for personal use. Suspect most higher ratings from those who haven't confirmed operation of app. I have since checked against Quest metering and calibration equipment. There's no easy way to calibrate this app without crashing. Tried everything: reset phone, shutdown/restarted phone, try calibrating again and again (5s).... Won't get into specific readings and numbers. Bottom line: not accurate as I hoped it would be but find it roughly acceptable for gross measurements only--quiet, noisy, loud enough to probably need hearing protection--dbA only. DbB, dbC not even close. To be fair let's consider that the app resides on a "phone". Be careful. 3 stars down from 5. (Report 3, Jan. 24, 4 stars) Update released January 24… Good news, at least for me, no more crashing during calibration of DbA. But, DbA calibration tricky at higher noise levels. Measures accurately at mid levels. (See #value delta of cal. screen vs. live measure screen). Developer: thank you for conscientious updates. On your way to "best-of" app Users: quick note – remember to hold your phone upside down, microphone in the air, not in the palm of your hand blocking microphone. Developer--possible tweak for future updates??-flip screen 180 degrees feature!!

Very handy on measuring db in surrounding area . Great to use at sports events to see how loud it is, or just around the house. It is great for the price and is pretty accurate
