Great mix with one reservation

eaglerock79

I really had a great time playing this - the game play mechanics are a cool mix of point-and-click adventure, light RPG, and dexterity challenges that determine how well you hit your enemies. The hunting and fishing were great too. I liked the story until the end. It's really too bad that the writer has some kind of weird transphobic hang-up. This game would have been perfect without that. Usually not one for being offended but it was off putting--not is cool horror kinda way but in a mean/hateful kinda way. Otherwise awesome game.

Great Throwback to oldschool Adventure games

wow ... had no idea how much i was gonna love this game. Very fun game .. love the retro feel. If you like horror or rpg games , definitely give this one a try!

It's ok.

It takes about 3 hours to beat. It does have a few well played spooks. Very easy. Designed for a pre-teen. Worth more like $1 or $1.99 max.

Amazing Time-Waster

This game is amazing! The jump scares are well-timed and don't bombard you until you crap your pants every time or get used to them, because it can really build the creepy atmosphere. I'd recommend playing in the dark with headphones like the game says at the beginning. The combat is interesting, something I haven't seen before. Overall this game is pretty great and worth a play for the price it has.

One of the best mobile point-and-click adventures. Period.

As I write this, I am noticing that Dark Fear has only five written reviews in the App Store. This just goes to show how woefully underappreciated and overlooked this game is. It is one of the best mobile games of the adventure genre. Obviously the retro, pixel-heavy gaming revival is nothing new, but Dark Fear harkens back to a specific era of computer adventure that few (if any) modern titles come close to emulating. The puzzles aren't anything too out of the ordinary, but in the context this great art style, they work very well. At first I was admittedly skeptical about the RPG-style battle/upgrade/equip system, but it turned out to be a great way to break up the monotony that many puzzle adventure games can face. The battles introduced a cool grinding element to stretch out the gameplay and cleanse your palette a bit between tasks. So yeah, tremendously good mobile adventure game. It definitely belongs in the same conversation as The Room, Monument Valley, Lumino City, etc. Now if only we can get sites to review this game and get it the attention it deserves.

Great Horror Adventure

Very much enjoyed this. A fun adventure as well as rpg. My favorite parts were puzzle solving. Figuring out what items get you where, completing rituals, etc... All felt really good. The combat got a bit repetitive, but it was fun. Also, there is a bit of grinding on the hunting/fishing side. Overall, this is a great callback to old school adventures. It feels good to play. And it's actually pretty scary!

Amazing

I found out about this game via YouTube. I'm so happy I came across it! It's a mixture of kings quest, meets eye of the beholder meets scary! I freaking love it. This game needs to be better recognized. Such a gem

I never review but....

This game was addictive! I had to beat it. I was surprised at how much I jumped at certain parts of the game.
