Great App

Use it almost daily.

Great when it worked

K9freund

I loved it when it worked, but now app just crashes. Will update if issue is resolved. Expensive app to have it not work.

Completely broken

semanoesis

The new iOS7 update makes all three of my Collins dictionaries crash immediately on launch. That's an investment nearly $100 rendered completely useless. Fix this!

Good interface & easy to use

Pretty pricey but great on the go dictionary. Far more functional than paper copy. The only better feature might be pronunciation, but not critical for intermediate (and beyond) speakers.

Great app, with one little issue

YesNoCancel

This is easily the best German dictionary app. A lot of care was put into making the interface clean and intuitive. The only issue is that it's clumsy to close definitions. You open a definition by tapping on the word, but to close you have to click on a little "arrows" button on the other side of the screen. The definitions also stay open forever, so after awhile a bunch of definitions are open. I'd expect them to be closed automatically at some point, like when you open the app.

Awesome

I have the French and German dictionary apps from Collins, and both are grear because they will parse words for you, and you can put an inflected word into the search bar, and it will give you the meaning of that form and the dictionary definition of the base form. Very, very helpful for learning a language. I used the French one to read a book; I didn't know French when I started, but can read it fine now, clargely thanks to the Collins dictionary. Highly recommended.

This German Dictionary Is Not So Hot

For $25 this should be VERY good. It is barely mediocre. I found this by trying to check a word I thought I knew, Unrat. This occurs in The Blue Angel, the nickname the students give their professor--this is a classic! But this word is NOT in this dictionary. So I got out my paper Collins German dictionary--not unabridged--it had Unrat. I began a side-by-side comparison, and after a couple of dozen extensive tests, I would say this online version has between 2/3 and 70% of the entries of my paper version. For me many of the missing words are important, like Unrat. Whoever did the deleting knows little of German culture. I'm going to try to get my $25 back.

Hm.

I like this quote a bit, but I wish there was an audio component. German is so strange-sounding, and I want to make sure I capture that strangeness correctly.

Very useful and complete

Mehran Smart

It can be said one of the best and complete german english dictionary in app store. In this version by adding the conjugation tools by swapping to left, its very useful to learn verbs conjugations easly.

First-rate!

Shushumushu

Very pleased with this dictionary. I really like the multiple examples of the word's usages under many entries. It is also exhaustive enough for me (in case I cross paths with an old or rare word that isn't in here, I have a free dic with a huge number of entries but no usage examples). The verb conjugations are very comprehensive and useful, and the whole design is clean and satisfactory. Heartily recommended!
