Subscription Service, Received a nice reply from CLZ.

Sadly Disillusioned

I received a nice reply from CLZ regarding the subscription service. I think it was a miscommunication, in how the subscription service was addressed. When I say miscommunication I mean the wording lacked some clarity and definition as to what is going to happen. That and the quickness in its execution, and not have time to understand to whole picture of how the change is going to effect the future for grandfathered users. I started using their products from the very beginning, and although there have been a few ups and downs, I think this is a fantastic product. Finding my movies would be impossible with out it. Unfortunately Apple’s new push for even more profits in wanting everything to go to subscription service payments, is getting out of hand. Which could be the downfall of this company. As soon as I have time to download version 5, I will give an updated review.

I have used CLZ Movies (as well as a couple other of their apps), for a couple of years now. I find the Movie app very helpful to keep track of movies and TV shows that I own (both digitally and on DVD/Bluray), as well as Movies and TV series that I stream. The developers are very receptive to suggestions and have made many improvements since my original purchase. The database is fairly complete, although there is an occasional item missing. I find the developers very receptive to email and always get a reply within a day or two. If it is a database issue, they always resolve it promptly. There is also a submission form to submit missing or incorrect items if you prefer.

This app has been a godsend. I’ve been an avid collector for the last 15 years or so, and CLZ Movies works like a charm. It helps me keep my movies organized and catalogued, and I also love how it integrates with IMDB, and pulls trailers into the movie info, just from scanning the barcode of my newest purchase. I’ve been a subscriber for the last few years and don’t see that ever changing

This app has made my life so much easier. I own several thousand movies, and only this app helps me to keep track of them all! Also, the support from the developers is 2nd to none! Whenever I require assistance, I get the expert help I need within a few hours, if not sooner. Trust me, I’ve been using this app for quite a few years, and it is TOP NOTCH! Great app, great people - what else could you want?! Keep up the great work!

I researched many other programs to organize my movies in a matter that was easy to access them and get movie information. This is truly one of the best programs for that.

Well, I missed the chance to buy this app, because I was angry about two other apps not acknowledging that I owned them. That has been taken care of. I was also annoyed about having to create an account. I am annoyed by the shift to the subscription model. This definelty benefits the devs and Apple. I believe this is more Apple than the devs. However, I see the benefit for devs and consumers. I have purchased many apps and I have watched many great apps disappear. Devs are not running a non-profit. They need revenue. This is kind of their fault with the gimmicky .99 cent of "gone free for a day (or week) to gain traction in the app-store. I do not like rewarding Apple for being a controlling parasite. When possible I subscribe directly. That said, the cost of this subscription is very, very reasonable. I have been in contact with the devs and I could of been nicer. The dev was always courteous to me. They graciously resolved one issue and the other corrected itself (oddly after I signed out of the new CLZ account that I created). When I get all my media back from storage and add it to the relevant apps, I will most likely go pro or premium. Why go through the trouble of adding all my media if the app isn't around?..

Honestly, I looked at several other apps and this one was the only one I could find with IMDB integration, sorting by rating, making custom collections, and having multiple users able to manage the library. We have over 1000 digital movies on iTunes so no barcodes to scan! The search and add function here was perfect. Definitely worth the price!!

Does Not Sync Cover Images

I have the desktop and iPhone versions of this program. The desktop works well, and syncs the movies with my phone, but only 1 out of every 20 or 30 movies has a cover image on the phone version. All the movies have a cover image on the desktop. I have an iPhone 8 Plus with the max memory so there is plenty of storage space. Just looking at a bunch of empty squares does not help you select your movies very well. I thought that it just needed time to sync, but it’s been 2 weeks now with no change. I can not recommend this app.
