I love sorting apps to use with my students, this one has nice photographs of actual objects and good sound. It even keeps track of accuracy. but a few suggestions: why are we putting food in a basket... My students think it's a dirty clothes basket. A fridge or a grocery cart seem more obvious choices. Add option to switch off the automatic movement to the next object to assist in teaching, also object to switch off verbal prompts.
The only bad thing is that after you have reached 100percent the items get smaller. There is no way to reset. It would be very useful to reset and reuse between different students. To have parent or teacher controls would be useful also.
We love to see apps like this. Great for teachers and parents of young children and especially special needs kiddos. Thanks for starting it out free. Looking forward to future updates. Thanks for this!
This is a great app concept, but it needs an upgrade. I realize it free (which is really nice and worth the download), but the graphics should be better. I get bothered by poor image quality on all these apps. You can see the white background leftovers from the fast silo job on the photos. Even the yellow reward star art gets blown out. You should fix these things, then charge $.99 IF you need to. I'd pay for better quality. I'd be angry if I paid for this as it is now. Also, to clear up confusion, the closet doesn't really look like a place you'd put clothes or shoes (it's jam packed with other stuff and it's also smaller than the basket and the toy box). And the basket looks like something you'd have in your home for other things than food. Maybe show a refrigerator or a fruit bowl instead?
my three year old really likes this app, it did not take him long to get the hang of it and he was chuffed to get them right. as a free app you can not go wrong.
I like the ease of this app. I would give it a 5 star if it named each item while questioning, "Where does this go?" it should ask, "Where does the dress belong?" Many of the students that will benefit from this app need repeated use of words. As a speech therapist in a school system I see this as being a very beneficial tool.
With only 3 categories and slightly more than a handful of photos to sort, this is as simple as it gets.
I am a parent of a special needs child and a former teacher. Kids need to sort! It is a skill needed for many things. Like to see it classify more. I think it is really important for developing pattern sense, as well. To recognize the attribute in a pattern, kids need to sort first. It would be great if there was a store on the app for kids to go. They could choose items to sort into categories by color shape size design, etc. It would be fun for them. I absolutely agree with the speech pathologist about the language piece. This is crucial. It would be great if the voice could say what object is because kids with special needs say "this that there" because their vocabularies and word retrieval is limited. Good modeling ie, naming the objects to encourage vocabulary expansion. I gave 4 stars because I am glad that someone is staring the process.
This is a great free app for sorting. I kinda wish that the pictures could be bigger and the percent correct would tally trials. And instead of a basket for food, maybe a refrigerator. However, great free app !! I would recommend.
