Reviews

Lap counter and Position counter not accurate
JohnieC

Will adjust review & rating if bugs are fixed I DO like the concept and the graphics though. It's just that I keep passing the starting line without counter adding the lap. The position counter is completely erratic i've gone from first to last without a car passing me and visa versa. I've restarted the iPhone a couple of times to see if anything changes but no dice

Needs lots of work
bigpappadanks

I love the retro look, but I hate the physics and AI. Computer cars run into you like you're not there. When they do, your car comes to a grinding halt while they take off. There's lots of work that needs to done before this can be considered a decent game.

Not Ready for Prime Time
Mechanic07

This could be a great game...could be. The lap counter and position indicator do not function correctly. I can race 10 laps with no increase in laps on the counter and the position indicator shows me in first when I'm in last, second when I'm in fourth, etc. Not good. Also, who the hell came up with the concept of a braking only racing game??? We race to be able to push the accelerator!!! Not the brake!! Just dumb!!! No ability to adjust sensitivty on the steering input, the list goes on... This might be a great game once all these issues are fixed, but until then, it's a no go, not ready, getting deleted for now, just wasted a dollar... Live and learn...

Buggy

I like the look of this game, but that is about it. There is little incentive to try to get first place when third will suffice to unlock new cars. However, you can cheat to get first by simply driving under the starting line bridge perpendicular to the track when the race starts, then back up across the track and you will win. Hmmm...No real reason to keep coming back to this game at this point.

Simple Fun
MiOdd

I've been on the look out for a very simple and fun racing game and Classic GP delivers. It offers very smooth and clean graphics and controls. It's not the most in depth racer but I consider that a good thing. I love the style and simplicity. To the creator, I have a suggestion/request. For games like this, I almost never take my finger off the accelerator, I think the game would be even better if you added a control option to remove the up and down arrows and have the car automatically accelerate and let the player touch anywhere on the screen to break and reverse. Just my thoughts. Love the game though, great work.

Well Done
Coloursound

Classic GP is slightly reminiscent of Virtua Racing by Sega. They share the the traits of using non-textured 3D polygons. This is a look I have long adored. Classic GP actually has very cool gameplay mechanics. Driving the car feels awesome. I had my doubts, as I usually only use 1st person / in-car cam / bumper cam. Classic GP has none of those, but remains one of the few that still drive very well without it. The vehicle models are very well done as well. It would be nice to have some new tracks with very different scenes, like sunset / nighttime racing. Maybe even the addition of simple things like Water / Bridges / Tunnels - Something. I am giving this game 5 stars. I feel that it has been rated WAY too low. I don't understand the 1 star ratings - this is a very cool game. I have over 1700 games - I know what a crappy, 1 star game is - Classic GP is FAR FROM IT!!! Anyhow, best of luck Jorge!

fun to play, great to look at (updated)

to me, 'classic gp' somewhere in the mid-ground between 'real racing' and 'pole position' with the hook of very cool-retro graphics and feel. i liked it quite a bit when i first got it, and the bugs have not been resolved. i can understand a developer having initial glitches, but it's disappointing that this much time has gone by without updates. the good: it's obvious that a lot of time was spent on the overall visual style and the interface (lap counter, speedo), and to me it pays off. the lap timer is very clever, and makes me think of the team managers in the 1950's with their stopwatches clocking lap times from the pit wall. steering input is pretty intuitive and consistent. engine sound is pretty good. the bad: i wish there was an accelerator control like some of the other games, which would increase the playability for me. the comment about the buggy lap counter and position indicator also applied to me in 'race' mode, but the lap counter worked in time trial. hopefully an update will fix that, but until then, i've stopped playing because of the issues.

Should have been fun
siberian7

And could have been! Undeveloped (no gear changing) and little to do with few controls or options. Look elsewhere for racing.
