City of Secrets 2: Episode 1 is the sequel to the original game, appreciated worldwide by gamers and reviewers, the game that successfully refreshed the classic adventure game genre, conveying it to the touchscreen devices.
Simple, intuitive controls, designed for touchscreen devices.
Carefully designed, hand-drawn backgrounds.
All dialog lines voiced.
Two difficulty settings, for both the experienced and beginner players.
A challenging adventure enriched by logical challenges.
Usually, a dangerous and perilous adventure hides behind a completely innocent beginning. A beginning that doesn't mention anything about a giant worm, dangerous cooking recipes, the common people fighting the oppressive regime, rebelling workers and trade unions. Nor does it mention a strange salesman that forgoes the career of a dark god to start his own fish stand business. An innocent beginning doesn't say anything that could be linked to words like danger, trouble or threat. It's just the way with all those adventures, it seems they have nothing better to do than just render a man's... animal's... mole's... life unpleasant.
Moles the Mole, a not-so-bright and nice hero, but a hero nonetheless, will have the questionable opportunity to discover what fate has in store for him. One night, closer to morning than evening, Moles has been brutally awakened by scary noises. Fear tightened it's icy grip on Moles' heart and just when our hero was about to execute a tactical withdrawal, the mystery solved itself - with a terrifying series of noises, our hero's most impressive muscle was demanding a night snack.
Unfortunately, the problem with adventure games is that nothing's ever easy in them. The fridge is empty, the designer didn't draw a larder and the writer already had an idea how to complicate the hero's life. Now that's an innocent beginning, if I've ever seen one. And you know what's the usual deal with those innocent beginnings.
This game was tested on animals. They didn't like it and went away.
This game was tested on testers. Nobody asked them if they wanted to do it and they couldn't get away.
City of Secrets 2 has been divided into 4 closely-tied episodes. Next episodes coming soon! At least... we hope so.
im playing with ios and there is no sound and when they say something i try to read it but i goes away too quickly to the next sentence i really hope i didnt waste my money ???
When I first bought this game it worked fine, but now after I downloaded it again, there is no audio except for the cutscene. The the subtitle pass in a flash!??!!? Fix this bug please
I waited a long time for this sequel and it was great except I beat it in 20 min. I can't believe after the sale price u will be charging 4.99 per chapter
I've been waiting a long time for this sequel and the gameplay, graphics and basically everything else are an A+. My one gripe is with the length of the chapter (20 min for me) vs the price. Even on sale the length is really short but once the sale ends I can't imagine anyone is going to pay $4.99 for each chapter if they're all so short. I'd rather pay $9.99 for the whole game, I'm not a fan of this episodic release scheme that everyone on the iPad seems to be using.
The production values are top notch - great visuals, fun voice acting, fun Sam and Max style humor. But it's way too short. There's two problems with this - first, the price. For $1 I don't feel slighted...for $5 I think it's a tough sell. I try to use a movie price comparison...$5 is a little less than half the price of a movie ticket, and it's a little less than half the length of a movie. Telltale games, by contrast tend to take me 90+minutes for $5/episode. Thats a pretty good value. A movie's worth of enjoyment for 1/2 the price of a ticket. I don't mind paying $5, $10, even $20 if the value is there, i am just not sure that value is there at $5/episode if they are all going to be one-sitting jaunts. The second issue is that short episodes mean no really challenging puzzles. The original City Of Secrets had some decent challenges. This game is just a breeze-through even on the harder difficulty. There's too few locations, too few items, and the puzzles are all really basic. What's there is great. There's just not a lot there.
A disappointing sequel to a great game. As mentioned by many, it has production value with nice graphics, sound, etc; however, if falls very short of expected in game play. The episode is really short and, on the hardest setting, the puzzles are way too simple to offer any challenge. The price is also a point to address. While 99c would not be too much for an hour of playing, the episode is over in 20 min and it feels more like reading a comic than playing a puzzle game. I doubt I will be buying more episodes.
Way too short compared to the first one! Please add more length to the other episode!
I really liked the first version of this game. 99 cents for a very short episode which is mostly characters talking and very little game play is a lot.
I agree with the other reviewer. I was expecting a lot more game play. This was not at all challenging. If the other episodes are anything close to this first episode it's not worth it. What a let down after a year of anticipation and waiting.
