It’s nice, it’s simple to use, and it’s informative. Even though I can’t wait until these buggers go back to where they came from I do admit to being fascinated by them. I tried entering my location from a remote location but the app insisted on using my phone’s location services and wouldn’t let me edit it. I did post a photo from that same location so I hope they use photo data before placing my cicada on the map. Nice that they review things before posting them. One last thing. I have not found a way to contact anyone about the app. That would be a nice feature to add if it doesn’t already exist in the app. Otherwise, thanks to the developers for such a neat and timely app that I can use and also share with my primary school age grandkids.

I am an avid fan of the cicada. So many sub species, so many gene mutations blue eyes, white wings it’s endless amazement! Getting to see all the cicadas people are finding around the USA is just mesmerizing. I recommend it to all my bug living friends.

I have submitted 2 photos, a month ago and the other a week ago and neither have been counted. My part of the map has not been represented. It’s hard to have any enthusiasm left!

Unfortunately haven’t seen the full app, can’t get past the signup. Tried sign up several times entering credentials, kept highlighting my email in red. Thought maybe it had already accepted a sign up so tried to just sign in with it, nope. Tried with two different emails. Noticed two other issues on sign up page...1)while entering password, I was being prompted by the keyboard with “username” suggestions. 2) When I tried clicking the link for T&C, just got a pop-up with “ok” button- maybe this means there are none? But then why have the checkbox? Then tried signing up with FB, using the “through FB app” option- got nowhere. If I ever get it working, I hope you can upload photos already taken because this cicada will be long gone!

Trying to upload photos but keeps saying there’s no geotag. I can see the geotag when I look at properties of the photo elsewhere

In the the next update, the cicada photos should have the date of the picture when it was taken (not when uploaded). also it says I don’t have geotag when I upload my photo, even though I do, please fix this. One more thing, what if someone takes a photo of a cicada on vacation and then uploads it at home
tired of nagging
It is impossible to type in info and password because of the keyboard sitting over all the view and input area. This is a bad design for an iPad MINI. Also, I can’t even click the accept agreement box because there is text floating over it. BTW.. what does the requirement for birth year have to do with using an app to document a scientific event?

Tried to report a cicada, but it wouldn’t accept any photos that are not geotagged, so I couldn’t use any of my photos. Hard to navigate app, not intuitive or clear where to upload a photo, and when I eventually found the right option, it rejected my photos for lack of a geotag. I take a lot of wildlife photos and do not use geotagging to protect the species (especially reptiles and plants) from poaching.

Tried to participate by using the app and uploading a photo of cicada I took last week. After getting around multiple roadblocks of frustration it won’t accept my photo because I have geo tags turned off. Deleted the app.
