Excellent Time Killer for Poker Player

atomgor

I play a good amount of poker and I can say with some confidence that most other poker players would like this app. The game is fun and if you want to kill some time this is the perfect way to do so, you will have to know the ranking of poker hands, but other than that just sit back and enjoy! The game mechanics are easy to use and it doesn't use much battery. The only problem I have is that I am a little confused by the scoring system, but that has nothing to do with the app so I won't take any points off, also the price is a little steep, but it's the best one out there by far, so you get what you pay for.

Good but gets frustating

Some who plays this

I like the free version enough to shell out five dollars for the full game, as I want to play with payout the way I play in real life. I find 1-3 works out well but I find the payout for naturals too high (3 should be enough. Why can't player customize these values?) I also would like to see special payout like one point per ace in the hand. Like real life it gets frustrating at times. I seemingly have to battle through bad hands hands after hands. As I start to accumulate some winning, the opponent just wipe me out with big hands. This is probably a good exercise to remind me not to play this game in real life, as too little is under my control.

Not what it seems

Not quite the big two I was used to play was.

No bonus for Royal Flush?

Huddledougston

I love playing Chinese Poker and this is pretty much the only iPod application available for that. I think the graphics are good and the hand-setting interface is straightforward. My main beef is that the game does not award bonus points (with Royalties/Bonus set to "ON") for a Royal Flush. For a King-high straight flush I get 5 points, but only 1 point for an Ace-high straight flush. What's up with that?

Has Anyone Ever Beat Computer?

bpbenda

For Developer: In next update, please make computer auto-set natural hands according to the criteria that makes then naturals. The way it is done now, a natural is dealt but not always set in a way to display such. For instance, three straights are dealt, but not always set that way. Same with three flushes when there are pairs and sets in the hand. It makes it difficult to see and to understand what is happening when all the hands are being shown. Review: Has anyone ever beat the luck of the AI in this game over an extended period of time? I have the learning mode turned on and I am pretty good at setting the best hand possible each time, yet I still get crushed. At 1-3, it is just a matter of time before I am down 100 points, and this is with naturals and royalties turned off. The same AI players always seem to perform the same, and they alway seem to have significantly better cards. This level of difficulty encourages me find the very vest possible hand that I can make, but it is almost never good enough. Update: Just as soon as I typed this review, I reset the counter and played another 100 hands. I AM UP! FINALLY! Granted, there is still one computer AI player ahead of me, but I am up 10 points after 102 hands at 1-3 with no royalties or bonuses. Miracle!
