Highlights
---------------
A piece of the iPod lives on inside Castamatic. The "On the Go" playlist was originally meant to assemble a new playlist on the iPod if inspiration came while away from the computer, and then sync it to iTunes as soon as user goes back home. This becomes even more useful in Castamatic, where users can pick the episodes they want to listen to in their next listening session and assemble them in a playlist just before leaving. The On the Go playlist will mantain the same order in which the episodes were added, then the user can move and rearrange them manually. As soon as an episode has been completely listened to it will be automatically removed from the On the Go playlist.

An Excellent Choice

Castamatic has all of the features one would expect from a modern podcast player, presented in a very well organized, easy-to-use interface. The user experience is brilliant compared to many other players which have become almost hopelessly convoluted. When I discovered that sideloaded files also synced across devices, Castamatic even replaced my audiobook app. The app subscription model is something I’m still getting used to, especially since multiple subscriptions add up very quickly, and Castamatic is certainly on the higher end for an app with no obvious services or storage being provided. That being said, as long as Castamatic is under continuous development the current asking price is reasonable. My personal wishlist for Castamatic would be ‘End of Chapter’ and ‘End of Episode’ options for the sleep timer, as well as a time-based limit for News Mode, as opposed to episode count.

Great app, mostly Podcasting 2.0 compliant
FCGreg

This is a great app with some nice features—most of the advanced features you expect from a mature app. I especially love that it allows searching the Podcasting 2.0 index of podcasts and lets you select between that and Apple’s old-school list of podcasts. The only major feature missing for me: It doesn’t support “live” chapter markers for the new Podcasting 2.0 system—it only supports the older style ID3 markers. Adding this would probably make this my new go-to podcast app on iOS.

Clean UI. Great options

Really nice pod app that probably doesn’t get enough recognition. Lots of great features. The sound boost is excellent. 1 issue I have is that it is choppy as you scroll through longer episode lists or playlists. Other than that I highly recommend.

Better than Apple iOS podcast app

It works great, you should try it!

Great podcasting 2.0 features

Between the index, the chapters, and value streaming - this app has the most important podcasting 2.0 features. I just wish more podcasters would get with the program. Also, the app freezes every time my audio output changes, which is multiple times per day with airpods switching to laptop, etc.

Very nice!

After a couple of days with Castamatic 8, I find it a worthy replacement for the pod catcher I have been using for the last few years, Overcast. I love the Value 4 Value feature. One minor complaint: when I skip chapters, it seems to count the skipped time into the SATs to send. I would Ike to have the option for skipped chapters to NOT count towards donations.

Best Podcast App

Listen, I have tested every podcast app out there. I mean every single one. This app is by far the best!!!! It has elements that all real podcast listeners want. The audio control is so incredible & the artwork is always on everything which makes the experience better! Please DOWNLOAD NOW!

It crashes.

Extremely buggy update.
Mickeyi04

Extremely buggy. Can’t download podcasts. Can’t listen to them if there’s any interruption. The episode will start over. If it hadn’t crashed when I tried to find where I was, I’d still be listening to it. This is after I downloaded the update that cleared my podcast list. This, after I would only use this app because it’s so great. What happened?

Loved the app and issue fixed
Mickeyi04

I had to stop using the app because it downloads episode art and there is no way to prevent this. While you can stop the display of episode artwork, it still downloads the artwork in the background. Add Joe Rogan and watch the storage use rise. Edit: The developers have apparently fixed this issue. 5 stars
