Why doesn't the smudge tool work?

Smudge tool is grayed out. Why? Is this something I have to purchase? Why do I have to add numbers before I'm allowed to use this app. It's annoying.

The trial gives you a lot of ads and one drawing mode which looks like a lot of x's. From this we are supposed to take a chance and buy the app? No way....

I really do like the brushwork that allows for very subtle modulations in your drawing. But after reading the description extolling the virtues of a pristine work area, I was surprised to find an intrusive banner ad covering so much of the drawing space. I eventually discovered there is a paid version which, for some reason, did not show up on the Related apps tab.

At first I was kinda disappointed with how little options it had then I realized that there is a paid version that version is way better but this trial is not as great

Improvments for a Great App
I have a suggestion for a new update, which is to add different colors to choose from when drawing your art! Other than this I REALLY love the app! Keep up the AMAZING work!
Can we get an update
Music without wifi is amazing
I updated my phone to the IOS 11 and this app won’t work on it unless it’s updated. I’m sorry for being pushy but I need an update.
