With Buffers you can:
- Select from 42 commonly used buffering agents
- Generate accurate recipes covering broad pH, concentration and temperature ranges
- Access detailed information about each available buffer system
- E-mail, text, copy or print recipes
To use Buffers, just choose a buffering agent and target pH along with the desired solution volume, temperature and buffer concentration. The recipe is calculated with the push of a button. Buffers uses a sophisticated algorithm that is more versatile and potentially more accurate than simple calculations based on the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.
An information page for each buffering agent lists the pKa, appropriate pH range, and temperature dependence, along with molecular weights and CAS numbers for the acid and base forms and other pertinent information.
Bring your buffer calculations into the lab where you need them!
This app may be useful if you only use the buffers in the list, which seems to be a splattering across science. There is no molarity or dilution calculator. AND you can not add any buffers even without the ph calculations. SO if there are buffers you need to make that are not on the limited list you will still need to reference where ever you have them now. So why complicate things with having recipes in multiple locations.
While it is useful to determine if very, very basic buffers work properly at a certain pH, it has a very limited selection of buffers. It's probably useful for general chemistry students, but that's about it.
I use this app as a training tool for starting researchers to prepare buffers from very user friendly recipe. Recipes are great! The e-mail and print functions do not work and there is no support for the app to correct this.
But the recipes supplied are not spot on. Be ready to make some acid or base adjustments. Still, a neat little app though.
This app is extremely useful for rapidly doing buffer calculations in the lab. Great features and easy to use. Highly recommended for use by students and researchers alike.
