The app isn’t working at all. It keeps closing out and now I can’t set up the GPS waste of money

Purchased this back in 2015 before an international flight to Japan. The app and item worked fine then. The problem is, even though the apps updated, the device keeps triggering the alert, every 5 seconds. Worse still is the device is right next to my new iPhone XR. I see no way to replace the battery and obviously since it’s been almost 4 yrs since I purchased it, it’s still not a well use item as it’s attested by the lack of reviews in 5 yrs and still a little used product. It’s a genius idea, but poorly executed and needs A LOT of work to be a functional device that parent will want to use in busy areas.

My kid has a habit of walking out the door when ever he feels like it so I thought this app could help me but it’s not at all what I thought it would be
