Great!

Better than the first which was already amazing. Also a third one is coming out VERY soon for ios.

It's not an amazing game

Chalahcl

Tedious storyline and terrible graphics. Bad puzzles, painful movement, unamusing conversations. It's seriously much worse than the first broken sword.

Sophomore Slump

VicLabs

Smoking mirror has none of the puzzles and ingenuity that made the first Broken Sword so enjoyable. The mechanics are basically the same (except now you can die) and the humor is still there, but gone is the epic sense of adventure. Puzzles have been replaced with completely unintuitive, hint-heavy enigmas. Where Broken Sword 1 was like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Broken Sword 2 is like an arbitrary episode of Scooby-Doo. Skip this one and go straight to Broken Sword 5.

Offensive

Maybe the game single star review is not an appropriate way to deal with this, but absent any other feedback mechanism it's going to have to do. You are the beginning of the game George is speaking with a retired police officer. When the police officer is listing the kind of awful crimes that he could help solve, he says "if he'd been a serial killer or a sodomite, I could help". Listing those has two of the crimes he could help fight. It seems to me that by 2014 game producers could stop referring to sodomites as criminals. And because the game is in a contemporary setting, they can't even say that they were addressing terminology of "the time".

Classic fun

Just as great as the first Broken Sword game. A blast from the past since this game was made in 1996, still fun in 2014.

Disappointed

After playing the original BrokenSword game, I was quite impressed, because it was fun, interactive and relaxing. Generally it's just hard to find adventure games that are bright and cheerful, since most are gloomy and dark. But this time I found the controls for interactive elements were obscure simple due to poor button layout and action choices are often lacking in logic. So you end up getting stuck for worthless reasons. Also, while enjoy the conversations with characters, the game sometimes feels like you are most just listening to people talk the whole time. Buy I must say what helps this game is the good voiceovers. Every game should have them. Now, on to the part that got me to the point of deleting the game: major sacrilege and other racial/political stereotypes. Along the way, almost everyone you meet is like a stereotype portrayed on Hollywood media, from accents, to attitude, body types and back stories. It's cheesy and would probably offend everyone else on some degree other than leftist Americans. You know, I've played many games and never ever had this kind of problems and never felt there was an agenda behind a game. But this one felt like the creator just set out to demean and misrepresent Christians. First, they show a missionary priest completely indifferent to a woman dying, so spoiled and superficial he wont go help save her because his collar wasn't pressed; he was shown sitting around playing church music and explaining how he basically abandoned his five children because he basically slept with women of the local tribe while in a trance brought on by engaging in a strange "monkey dance." Apparently he is so vainglorious and terrible that he just abandoned the women and the children. Then, the main character moves on to a pirate's mansion. Apparently, this was a pirate who named their pirate ship after Jesus and did all kinds of evil. The main character never fails to reiterate that their actions was supposedly because they adhered to faith. I'm sorry. When did computer games become a platform for Christian-bashing or somebody's personal political agenda? Can't we ever have just one innocent thing that isn't corrupted by politics? Can we just play a simple game and enjoy it without you judging and misrepresenting the truth about a group of people just because you are brain washed by hatred and Hollywood? I deleted your game because it spreads falsehood and hates the truth. I cannot stand by dishonesty. My family has been one that was deeply touched by Christian missionaries. They have built hospitals, schools, taught, healed and encouraged in this country and brought genuine love to so many who didn't even understand the word "love." Many of these believers gave their lives to bettering our communities, and some were even killed. But they never gave up even with all the opposition and hatred. In them we see Jesus. Do not slander whom you do not know. It is just too evil!

Excellent mystery/adventure game

JerseyPrime

This game has a clever and mature edge to it; perfect for those that appreciate a good story, adventure style gameplay, traditional animation, and fun dialogue.
