Clunky, not aesthetically pleasing

I love Blokus, the board game, so was excited to play the digital version, but this app game is so ugly and clunky. The original board game is so sleek and simple but the app has goofy avatars and patterned edges and a completely unnecessarily busy aesthetic. Also the game play is not smooth. It’s not very responsive so sometimes choosing a shape takes several tries and exaggerated gestures. Getting it onto the board holds another clunky barrier, pieces are supposed to be draggable onto the board but many times it gets “snagged” on the edge of the board, for lack of a better term.

The game board vanishes as soon as it’s over. You can’t screen shot or save it any way. Game history seems to be completely absent. You can’t see your total score or game stats.

I like the board game a lot so I thought this game would be fun. I really enjoy it but wish there were some changes. I don’t like that you can’t pick your corner. If you change players it just moves the player to the bottom left corner. I don’t like that at times it forces you to go to your box of hints/ frozen player/ etc... in box. That should be my choice not forced by the computer. And I don’t like that every time you play it starts with a tutorial. I want to be able to turn that off. Paying for the app was worth it. The commercials were too much.
