I just got this app, so I’m still figuring it out, BUT it seems like a bird song identification app should be more straightforward. The record button isn’t on the first screen, and overall the app seems dated. I’ve used it twice to record birdsong: it correctly matched the birdsong once. Hoping I can use it more to learn about birds in my area.

Back yard bird watchers

BlueInspector

We love to sit out back to watch and listen to the song birds. We already had an idea of what birds we see but many times we hear the song but can’t see the bird. The songs available to hear has help us.

Doesn’t work

Love the Louvre

This is NOT the Shazam for birds. Difficult to figure out how to even record the sound. Always says poor sound quality even deep in the woods with no wind and the bird close by. Few birds are in the library, so even trying to play samples doesn’t work. Manual ID section is not user friendly (what IS a short/med/long birdsong length?) Perhaps having samples of each for someone to choose from would be better.

I recorded many loud common birds - clear as a bell recordings...didn’t correctly identify any of them. And their library of birds and their songs is small compared to other apps. Keep working fellas.

Not accurate

Sister lynn

I think I'd have to be sitting in the nest for this app to get a recording with enough quality for this app to identify the bird.

Easy to use

Fenzies

I found this easy to use and fun to play around with

Does not identify birds correctly.

Maybe it just is not designed for Pacific NW birds. Even with ideal recording conditions it can’t identify correctly. I am just going to erase the app.

Simple to use App - like Shazam for birds!

This app is really great as it does what it says. It automatically recognizes birds by their songs and calls. You only need to press the auto rec button in the middle of the main screen. This clever little helper will immediately helps to identify the bird singing in your backyard. The clearly arranged design makes the app very easy to use. You can choose from two screens how you like to group the birds. Either by name or by bird group. I prefer the group view as it is reasoned and the images are larger and I love to browse between all these different birds. I am not a birding expert but I always liked to know what’s around me. Thanks to the app this has changed! It was a nice way to become - or at least to feel like - the bird expert in your neighborhood. I always loved to track down the birds in my backyard. In the past I used a book for identifying birds but of course there were no sounds in the book and unlike a book on a shelf, I always have the app with me on my iPhone. Besides the nice automatic song and call recognition the app also comes with a lot of additional information for all the different birds. It has many nice and informative images and all the bird songs and calls. There is also a quiz in it and you can collect your own recordings. By using this app I’ve already learned quite a number of new birds. It can sometimes be a little tricky to find a quiet spot to record but then it really works well! Shazam for birds I would call it! Sometimes I don’t actually see the singing bird but thanks to the images in the app I still learn how it really looks like. That's how I became the chief backyard birder of my family.

Works as advertised!

Very informative

Not what it says it is

I tried several auto recordings and none were identified. Also the manual ID doesn’t limit by the region even though it is one of the criteria. I think this was a very wasted purchase and I will just delete it. There is no way they give you to comment or contact directly. Must be a reason.
