Buttons are horribly unresponsive, even at the biggest scale. Ads are ridiculously persistent and don’t always come with a way to close them. Do yourself a favor and buy an actual genesis with an actual copy of the game.

If your looking for a good old school slasher rpg then give this a go. Good price and a solid week of playing until you beat it.

The emulator isn't perfect, but it works pretty well on iPhone 5S+. Also, saving has some glitches with logging in, but it will usually save after about three attempts. Once it says "success" you know you're good. This game is an 'oasis' for Sega fans who also appreciate Zelda games and clones on the NES and SNES. It has cheerful animation, exploration, dungeons with puzzles, and a variety of spells and weapons. Also, what makes this game unique is the fighting system similar to Sega Beat 'em Ups. Hold B and Circle D Pad - Powerful Spin attack. Tap B - Combo. Hold B for 1 sec - Strong attack. Story: By Sega standards, it's pretty deep. An amateur archeologist discovers an ancient power armlet that asks him to go on a quest to stop the wielder of an evil armlet. Presentation: This looks like an colorfully animated Nintendo game, but it is from their rival. The birds and butterflies flutter. The water flows, and helpful villagers go about their business in towns. There are also some pretty menacing looking baddies. Also, the fighting is very well animated, as one would expect from Sega. Controls - Maps surprisingly well to touch screen. Tapping rapidly is easier than with physical controller, as is doing the circle on the D Pad while holding B for the circle attack. There are also menu shortcuts. Make sure to customize the layout. I made attack large, and most other buttons small and near the thumb position. Sound - I am not a big fan of the music, and it's surprisingly mellow, but the sound effects are very typical and sometimes even identical to other Sega Beat 'em Ups. This felt surreal, as the game looks and plays like a Zelda clone, but sounds like Sega. Overall - This is certainly a product of it's time, but if you like any 8 bit or 16 bit Zelda or Action RPGs and are at least curious at Sega's interpretation of it, this is a hidden gem and certainly worth a go.

Thanks Sega for bringing this gem to iOS and Android. Game plays extremely well and is similar to Zelda series with all the action, exploration, and RPG elements. I like that with all the Sega Forever titles there is an option to resize controls if you need to adjust for hand size too. Keep up the great work.

i like the fact they ported this. i just would rather it not obligate an ad EVERY TIME i save, or EVERY TIME i pause, or what it thinks is pause which is only me accidentally bringing up the ipod menu because the buttons are small and too close to the bottom. would rather not have to be online to play it either
