How It Works
• Download the app, enter your information, and select the contacts you want to notify about your safe arrival.
• Enter a destination and select how you’ll be getting there: via Uber, Lyft, taxi or walking.
• For the first two options, you receive the pricing for them so that you can select your most cost-efficient option.
• When taking a ride with someone you don’t know, take a photo of their license plate. This image will act as an immediate deterrent, putting the driver on notice that others know the vehicle in which you’re riding.
• The app displays the path to your destination and provides you with an ETA for your trip.
• Start your trip (and the app displays where you are along the journey and if the recommended path is being followed).
• As the ETA approaches, you’ll receive an alert asking if you’ve arrived safely.
• If you respond to the alert that you’ve arrived safely, it will notify your network.
• If you do not respond to the alert, your network will receive a message stating that something might be wrong and the pictures you took along with your last GPS location.

This app has a very simple and streamlined UI + relatively robust functionality. Taking and uploading the pictures is simple, and I let one trip alert go out/the message is informative and would be extremely useful in an emergency situation. I've used it to alert family of my trips and they have appreciated it. Definitely worth it!

The SafeRide/Walk app is really handy and easy to use. At work, I park in a remote lot. I often return to my car well after dark, and it's really nice to have this app as I walk. My family also really likes knowing my whereabouts and that I've arrived safely.
Good but needs improvements

This app serves a great overall purpose and and it is a nice idea for people such as my self that have to walk home from work after midnight. The idea is strong but a few improvements would do this app extremely well: 1. Firstly, the panic button is too prevalent in size considering its close proximity to the "arrived safely" button. I would consider maybe playing the panic button at the top under time remaining and above the map. The next few improvements are considering my phone type iPhone 5s and unsure of newer models: 2. The map does not update on the trip which means it isn't efficient for directions if walk and another app will have to be used simultaneously. Also, if I were in a uber and they had to take an alternate route, I would just be a dot moving off course on the map until I arrived at my destination. 3. It goes without saying that the timer for the app should go in the lock screen so I don't have to open my phone everytime I want to check the time left. 4. The app should give the option to add additional/pick individual emergency contacts for any given trip. If I were walking home at 1 in the morning having an emergency contact like a parent that would be fast asleep isn't the optimal choice. 5. There should be the ability to save addresses like a home destination so I don't have to re-insert the same location information for the majority of my trips Overall I think this app is alright with the potential of being very effective if more of these finer issues are looked into.

This app is great in that it gives peace of mind when traveling either by ones self or in a vehicle operated by an unknown third party! It ensures maximum security by putting a timer on each route you take, but is still practical in that it allows you to extend the amount of time you need to get to your destination if something slowing occurred along the way. It is also helpful that the location services of the app recognizes your beginning location, and that when searching for your end location autofill options quickly pop up. Great app to add peace of mind!
Great app with improvements needed

The idea behind this app is great, especially for ladies like me who sometimes walk home from the subway station or take the Uber at night. There are things that need to be improved, such as disable the contact notification and only alert them if the user hasn't arrived destination. Provide a number in the text where the contact could call to make it more efficient. Provide a train/bus tab other than car and walk. Provide the "your location" function instead of typing your current location all the time and or have the function to save as favorites. It's an useful app overall and with a bit more twists and improvements this is beneficial to many people out there!
Great, easy travel app for peace of mind

Living in the city, it's not uncommon for me to travel alone — however, that comes with many safety concerns. SafeRide/WalkSafe is an easy-to-use app that taps into my regular travel and allows me to connect with trusted contacts to "chaperone" my travel, so I'm never alone. The app easily connects to GPS and tracks your full trip, allowing your trusted contacts to know where you are, where you're going — and if you get there in time. I would like to see a "reminder" alert from the app to make sure I check in to my location, as I have forgotten to mark myself as "arrived safely" a few times, scaring my contacts, but otherwise the app is seamless, easy to use, and a great comfort.

The app was great and very easy and helpful to use! It made me feel safe and secure when walking around. Only thing I would alter is if possible I would add a public transportation feature for people who commute often/live in the city.

The application is a great way to assure your safety and ease the minds and those who care. In my commutes to work, home, Ubers, and even just going out for a walk I knew that I was always guaranteed protection no matter what and with that being said I HIGHLY recommend this app !!
