Fantastic site, heavy graphics can be slow to load

Comavet

Behance is a must for art lovers. The high quality art graphics can be slow to load sometimes but this is more due to the quantity and quality of the graphics than a fault of the app. I hope they can optimize it to make it faster.

Behance is a great service and is a huge part of my workflow as a graphic designer. However, the app misses the mark in many ways. Notifications: Behance sends you a notification every time someone you follow posts something. No one really wants that. Other platforms let you choose to have specific individuals notify you for a reason. Also, the content of these notifications is inconsistent. About half of the time, they are a properly formatted iOS rich notification featuring an image from the project. The rest of the time, the notification has no image, just showing a generic “no image” thumbnail. Searching: searching Behance, both in the app and on the web, is way more confusing than it needs to be. In the app, there’s not a dedicated search screen, as is common in most other platforms and is expected by the user. Instead, a search icon is tucked away in the top corner of the main screen and the “explore” screen. Instagram does a better job with this user experience. Then, when you’ve hit the search button, you type or speak what you’re looking for, then you refine it by person/collection/etc, then you have to tap a search button that is far away from both the keyboard and the search bar. Nearly every other app that has a search function on the App Store, as well as the built-in Spotlight search, uses the return key to submit a search. Again, an extremely basic UX mistake. It would also provide a better experience to refine search results after they’ve been searched, à la Google or Tumblr. Finally: the app also plays a silent audio track while you’re using it and occasionally in the background. This does two things: if you are listening to something when you open Behance, your audio will pause and you won’t know why. If that silent audio track plays in the background, then it will allow Behance to stay active all the time and drain your battery. Bad apps like Snapchat and Facebook have done the same thing. I will say that, overall, the Behance app is much more functional and user-friendly than the website.

Constantly logged out

I love behance and I like the iOS apps just fine, but for one thing: it signs me out all the time. No other adobe app does this. What gives? I should stay logged in on my iPhone. I don’t want to type my password every time I want to browse some cool art.
